Does this look like a scam?

Just sold a cheapish (£50) tablet to a buyer whose Ebay description says 'Based in Zambia..." and the delivery address is

<buyer's name > xxxxxxx7057
C/O FedEx Zambia Kitwe ONE WORLD LOGISTICS AND FREIGHT Ltd
HEATHROW CUBE

Buyer has 128 positive feedback.

I have my selling options set to exclude postage to outside UK, but this looks a way around that.

With the new(ish) rule of 180 days to raise dispute, this looks well dodgy!

If they have that amount of positive f/b it sounds as if they are genuine.

    But I don't know.

I would insist that the delivery address matches the Paypal address.
Also read their feedback comments before agreeing to sell.

OP has already agreed to sell- auction is finished and if seller pulls out they risk poor feedback and stars.

I recently had a Japanese one using a freight address in the UK- it did worry me as the address returned some issues when I did a Google search. I broke the rules, something I rarely ever do and instead of this going 2nd class Royal Mail I sent it tracked MyHermes with a note on the outer parcel saying not to leave but to hand over to a person.

It followed the pattern that other sellers had warned about- random daily messages reminding me to ship quickly and mark the outside of the parcel with item number and my seller ID (which I did). MyHermes had it there in 2 days, and for a day or two afterwards they still reminded me daily to ship item.

However, it's been 2 weeks now and all is quiet and should they try anything I have proof of posting and tracked proof of delivery to the address in paypal (the freight one)

This seems to be coming more common now, buying and shipping yourself. It used to happen a lot when I sold books on Amazon and one shipper on the Crusader Estate did cause me some problems once.

However, as long as the address in paypal says 'OK to send' and you have proof of posting and preferably tracking to delivery as well- you will be fine'

I refused to sell to a buyer at the same address.

They promptly left a neg and Ebay removed it.

I don't sell electronic items overseas. Thats my choice and my settings block it.

The courier that forwards the mail to Zambia might mistreat the parcel - smashing the tablet to bits - who pays - you do!

If they open a case - you have to wait for it to arrive back from Zambia - while paypal hold your money.

My buyer left lots of feedback saying "took too long to arrive". Of course it did you nut - your in Zambia.

Ebay accepted that this was a way to get round Ebay blocks and said they were monitoring the buyer.

Buyer was very arrogant, rude and abusive after i pulled out - which just made me more glad i did.

I've sold to this outfit 6-8 times and apart from the hassle of their conditions I've never yet had any problems. sounds like the "Zambia" outfit is the same sort of scenario...

Iv had this shipping company business once before. Its a way of cheating as far as Im concerned ie getting round shipping blocks, if buyer is prepaired to do that, what else might they be prepaired to do.

I refused to sell because -
"paypal" and ebay shipping address did not match ie diff countrys & buyer would not update paypal one to UK address.

I got neg but it was removed when I said buyer bypassed ebay country blocks, but paypal insist on sending to paypal address and buyer refused to update paypal to UK address.

    hope that makes sence lol

Your scenario is different- if the paypal address still showed as overseas then you could not send as you would have no seller protection as you would need to send to that address to be covered

However that is unusual, in my cases- and all the other cases I found regarding my Japanese one the paypal address is marked 'Ok to send' and shows the UK address.

I've had several now this year, mostly Russian ones as I don't ship there. The Japaense one was unusual as I do actually ship there so not sure why they went third party.

The only one I ever had problems with was the one on the Crusader Estate who handled books for I believe the US market. They claimed non receipt after 5 months on Amazon, but I showed proof of posting to Amazon and Amazon declined the late claim on my behalf with no mark on my account. I also had two other instances where Crusader asked me about 'missing' books but never pursued a claim against me.

I have shipped to many of these forwarding companies without issue before.

Thanks, the links to Ebay T&C stating buyer protection policy (moneyback guarantee) doesn't cover items shipped on after delivery was helpful.

I'll wait until the buyer pays and see if the Paypal address matches, otherwise I'll be a deadbeat seller and risk the neg.
