Returning Tv To Argos after 4 months

Hi I purchased a tv from Argos 4 months ago and I have only just realised that it is not the telly I paid for, it is a different one. The tvs have the same look but are different spec wise , I had only just noticed this as I seen it at the back of tv. Would I be entitled to a full refund as I have paid for something I didn't ask for , also on the receipt it says the telly I asked for but not the one I actually got. Thank you .

    It was 4 months ago?

Surely you would have noticed before then if it was missing specific specs you specifically paid the extra for.

What was the difference in value?
Why do you want a refund, wouldn't an exchange to the correct device be sufficient?

Are you sure you didn't go out and buy another just to take it back to Argos for a full refund and pocket the difference.

These are all valid questions Argos will be thinking when you speak with them.

I would suggest that after this time it would be seen that you have accepted the alternative goods supplied.

However, that does not stop you asking for Argos' view on this.

What is missing from the TV that you have?
Can't be a much, as you haven't missed those features.

Hi thanks for your replies, the telly they have give me is worth more than what I paid so for me to go and buy it and take it back for less wouldn't make sense I wouldn't do this anyway even if I would make money because I'm not that kind of person and also I still have the box and it's got the codes on it from Argos so it should be on there system the same as the receipt, the telly in question is the sony tv I choose a w6 model and they gave me a w7, now if you look online they look exactly the same it's only the specs that a different , the telly I choose I choose specifically for its low input lag and nothing else as I'm using it just for gaming , and also I was asking for a refund as they have not got the telly in stock.

A well respected review site says:
From our tests, it seems that the Sony Bravia W7 is the new W6. Featuring deep blacks, mostly accurate colours, 2.4 gamma, and above all record-breaking gaming responsiveness...
I think I would settle for the W7 myself.

What size is your set? 32", 42" or 50"?

Hi thank you all for replying and it was the 42 inch , anyway I've took it back today at 1st he said I can't as it's been more than 30 days , so I told him about the sales of goods act 1979 and that the item wasn't as described , he went to speak to his manager and gave me the money back straight away .

Well you've managed to get free use of a TV for 4 months, so congratulations. Unfortunately, this sort of issue just pushes prices up for the rest of us suckers who would been happy to have been given a better spec'd TV than the one paid for. Argos have to cover their costs somehow.

I think its not unusual for Argos to sell upgraded equipment when the usual version is not available. I bought a laptop from them a few years ago, and got a better model than I was expecting. Naturally, I did not complain.

Why did you want a refund? it clearly wasnt because of the spec as the one you got is better specced.

Looks as if you were just looking for a get out clause

I know the tv was a better spec, however I went in buying the w6 for a specific reason and that was the input lag, and that was the sole reason I choose the w6 nothing else , now if I had just bought it for other reasons then naturally I wouldn't complain as I got a better telly than what I paid for , but to me this didn't matter as like I have said the only reason I choose the w6 out of any other tv is the input lag as it's only being used for games and no tv whatsoever. And in reply to Nick_C this isn't my fault that Argos messed up so if prices are going up like you say because of this then tell the people that work there as this is there mess up not mine , I went in knowing exactly what tv I wanted and that's exactly what I thought I was buying when I went to the till , but they are the ones who gave me a different one to which I orderd.

Did you read the link I posted earlier?

    Here's another extract from it:
    Console/ PC Gaming

Boasting the lowest input lag we’ve ever recorded, and also full 4:4:4 reproduction in [Game] mode, the Sony 42″ W7 is an ideal large-sized display for both console and PC gamers. Our Leo Bodnar input lag tester gave a reading of 13.5ms, eclipsing the previous best of 14.6ms set by another Sony HDTV, the KDL42W653.
The W6 was previously the fastest, but that was overtaken by the W7.

Sending back a set that has a better lag statistic is just plain silly.

You seem to have shot yourself in the foot.

Now you have your refund you can put it towards a W7 if you like. ;)

As you had been using it for 4 months, obviously the lag on the W7 was acceptable to you as you would never have noticed a difference if you hadn't seen the model number on the back. I would have been inclined to keep the better TV, but at least you got the result you wanted.
