Is your street cabled?
Do you have ADSL services (IE, not making use of the cable)?
If so, why?
Just wondering if anyone does this because they don't need the higher speeds, price, don't like VM perhaps...

We have a Virgin (actually from NTL days) cable to the house, but use ADSL via Sky, at the moment and BT have not converted our area to fibre, yet.
However, I don't see any justification to pay extra , as what we have is sufficient. There are only two in the household and catch up tv, Spotify and Youtube , our main 'heavier' users, work fine.0 -
Street is cabled and I used to have it. I use Plusnet Fibre now. I got fed up with VM playing silly devils with pricing - they announced an increase, I called and negotiated a new price that was less than the original price. Two months later they announced another increase. I got tired of continually having to call in to get a competetive price and binned them on the strength of the increase. I had to involve CEO office to avoid an erly termination fee the normal CS insisted applied as their notification of the second price rise was a mistake. Total dipsticks.
Plus cable can be subject to local congestion - I had mediocre performance for quite a while which did eventually got fixed but I then started seeing signs of congestion returning. I don't demand perfection but don't appreciate getting a second class service compared to others paying (presumably) the same.0 -
