I think you're just trying to look like the big woman! My comment on the tipping thread show's my knowledge of that country. I have spent many weeks over there, you obviously haven't.

It might be wise to understand that although your past experience in this case would indicate you are better placed to pass comment on the tipping thread, it does not guarantee that you are right.

Sometimes in life, the bigger man is that person who shows humility and can be prepared to admit that they can be wrong.

Then again for me a big man, would be somebody that is polite and can carry a conversation through by getting their said point across without insulting people along the way.

People are much more likely to pay attention to what you say, if you deliver it in a well thought out manner, with no intentions carried of making the opposite person out to be a lesser person than you.

Might be something you want to mull over, then again probably not in your case.

How many times have you or Sheldon Cooper been to the States and how long for? Which parts? I don't visit the main tourist areas, I don't go for a holiday.

Wouldn't it be interesting to then find out I'm right. Then with your above comment where would that leave you?

I never passed judgement on weather you were right or wrong, in fact I haven't even read the thread. That is not the point. The point I was making is that people might be more inclined to listen to you and take your words more seriously if you delivered your argument without antagonising people, or indeed giving the illusion that you are talking down to them.

You could be right, you could be wrong, truth is I do not care. But I doubt we would be having this conversation today should you have been more polite in the delivery of your arguments.

In answer to your question, I have been to L.A., Chicago and Las Vegas for a total of around 3 weeks.

I don't know why they didn't do the freezers last summer when they actually shut for a few days for a 'refit'

Probably because they didn't need replacing a year ago.....

I agree. If you spend any amount of time here you'll might want to put him on ignore. (I find him good to laugh at.) He's one of these people who thinks being condescending to others it makes him look like a big man.

No-one could have proved the point any better than this!

Freezers in shops have separate cabinets and plant. The cabinet sits on the shop floor, the plant is normally behind the shop/on the roof or somewhere else out of the way, connected by lots, and lots of piping. For this reason, completely replacing them can take weeks or even months, especially if the freezers in the warehouse are also having work done. There's probably been work going on to some extent since the refit that they've managed to hide from the customers.

Because freezer plant is normally on the outside of the building, they may have had to get planning permission for the alterations, and we all know how long that can take. Likewise, they could have been waiting for building work to be completed.
Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

Actually I do like Morrison's , their in store bakery is really good and their deli counter is excellent - neither of the two asda stores near me have a proper deli counter . I just don't know what they were thinking of with that much disruption having a noisy display like that clogging up the place and the poor staff were demented with it -apparently it was there all week .The stuff she was flogging you can probably get in one of the dozens of £ shops we have - never mind paying £30 for it ;)

when I go shopping I want to be able to focus on what I want from the shop - not be deafened by someone with a microphone flogging a device that picks up fluff from your sofa for £30

That might not have been a Morrison's thing directly, there's quite a few 'marketing' companies that are popping up who now offer 'in store demo's' and promotional spots inside supermarkets that aren't directly linked with the supermarket themselves but more the products that are on sale. I know Tesco work with one (can't remember their name though) who'll send in staff during busy periods to demo or promote products.

That said, I don't know if megaphone woman was dressed in a Morrison's uniform, so if she was.... I sit mistaken!

No she was from an external company . I suppose its just another one of these things that the folk in their 'ivory towers' at head office decide without ever really knowing how stuff really works down on the front line .

She's there to sell stuff, not just stand there. She's not going to put many shoppers off their shopping is she ?
