Just received ATOL certificate from Expedia

Hi,
Wondering if anyone can help please?

ATOL Certificate shows our package to Chicago - 9 nights
It says Manchester to O`Hare 19.8.14
O`Hare to Manchester 29.8.14 Finnair

Also shows trip is protected by Expedia and our booking ref

We are flying out with Finnair but on US Aiways fight, our connecting flight is with US Airways and the return journey is with American Airlines and FlyBe. Should all these companies not be listed on the Certificate?

First time I have had one of these so not sure, any advise would be great if you can help. Thank you

If it is a package holiday then they can put all the details on the confirmation invoice which should be issued at the same time. So long as the words 'Package Holiday' appear in the bottom right hand corner of the Certificate it will be fine. It is when you buy the elements separately and get a Flight Plus Certificate all the specific details have to be on the Certificate itself. Expedia appear to be using some bizarre pricing system if they are showing a booking with Finnair, this may make it more difficult to book seats on US airways in advance a they are not US reservations and if you are flying too and from Manchester, what on earth are Flybe appearing on the itinerary, they have no planes that would get even a quarter of the way across the Atlantic! I won't tell you how delayed the US Airways flight out of Manchester last Saturday was, but I can say security at Terminal 3 which was an absolute madhouse 4 weeks ago, appears to be have been sorted, it was very good last night

    Hi, thank you.

Have just checked the Certificate and it says `Package Sale`. All flights and hotel etc are listed on the itinerary from Expedia.

We are flying Manchester to Charlotte with Finnair but flight operated by US Airways. Then Charlotte to Chicago with US Airways. I have been into the US Airways system and sorted our seats.

Coming back its American Airlines to Duesseldorf (seats sorted hopefully) and then Flybe back to Manchester but have been told as they are budget airline we can`t get our seats until we get back to Duesseldorf.

We fly on a Tuesday so hopefully not as busy as Saturday.

That is a very strange return routing, at least you should have three hours in Germany to change planes but having to go through German immigration and then go back to Departures to check in seems a real pain, I hope the fare was cheap and I hope the Flybe fare includes baggage as their lowest fares do not. Best of luck, and the US flight to Charlotte was 6 hours late on Saturday!

We get 3 hours in Germany, and I rang Expedia about the flights and baggage and they confirmed it was 23kg each and 7kg hand luggage on all flights. You have got me worried now.

Why would you need to go through immigration. If you have a connecting flight you can usually stay airside. (Unless Dusseldorf airport has an unusual layout that makes this difficult.)

silvercar, I have just had the same discussion with my hubby and like you we thought exactly the same thing as its a connecting flight on one ticket. Am going to check this out with Expedia tomorrow so I can have it clarified.

I think you should be ok transfer wise.

My sister flew back from Sydney for my Dads funeral and booked via Finnair. She flew BA SYD-SIN then Finnair SIN-Helsinki, then Flybe HEL - MAN. the same back. She checked in at MAN going home and luggage was not touched again until SYD. She received all Boarding passes at MAN for all the flights, Finnair, BA and Flybe.

    Just check with them though.

    Thanks rustyboy21.

I was told when I check in for outgoing flights I will check-in for the Finnair /US Airways and then coming back with American Airlines but it seems I can`t get our boarding passes for Flybe until I get to Germany! but think I will recheck this today as it seems a bit odd.

Nope - its a great airport and very easy to find your way around (basically one long terminal) if you are after a good meal check out "Red Barron" for great food. I used to be there once a month in my old job. Even if you have to go via imigration they are typical German efficiancy, the queues look long but 10/15 mins max and I was normally flying home Friday evenings.

Thanks Indout96, we have about 3 hours at Dusseldorf and assume we will be starving!

Just want to get the boarding pass bit sorted in my head, seems so daft when I can print everything for all the other flights.
