This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning all,
Up bright and early as its my weekend to work, we are meant to be getting rain today but no sign of it yet.
OH is in charge of housework / cooking over the weekend, I suspect this will include a curry one night
Will put a wash on before I go and ask OH to hang it on airer, also the fridge needs a good clean out.
Hugs to all in need x
Have good days all xx

Good morning all
Feeling quite exhausted today so will be conserving energy as much as possible. It doesn't help that I'm not sleeping well. OH is taking the kids out this afternoon for a bit so I can rest up, which will help.
I've been up a while so the WM is running and clothes have been sorted into piles ready for ironing. Yesterday I made a seeded loaf of bread which was so nice I'm making more today (in the bread maker). We went blackberry picking as well yesterday so I'm going to do something with those and last night I soaked some red cabbage in brine so going to get that pickled. Youngest DD will help with this as she likes being in the kitchen.
That's about it for today I think. If I can I want to have a go at making Tiffin:

as I'm sure my brood will lIke it but will see how the day goes

Morning all
Late night last night as hubby went to the pub with friends & I collected them around 11ish.
I rec'd a message last night to say a work friend has given her notice in, I know she wasn't happy, another one like me who's face doesn't fit the current regime, she & her hubby have decided to downsize & move to a cheaper area to enable her to get out, I'll miss her, but I'm very happy for her.
Just a pootling sort of day here, hubby's not working so will want to go out & about I expect, we have two of the DGC tomorrow for a couple of hours so I must make sure I have enough stuff in to make cakes & biscuits.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Good morning all,
We had heavy rain last evening and it is raining again this morning. I am not moaning though because the garden badly needs it and every where smells so fresh after rain.
Off to the hairdressers this morning and a small amount of shopping.
No visitors this weekend, but will pop up to see DD tomorrow and visit the farm shop to see what goodies they have.
Hugs to all poorlies and have a good weekend everyone.

Woke up in our super dark hotel room thinking it must be 5.30/6am, looked at time on my mobile and it was 7.30! I need to get thicker curtain at home cos this was a lie in for me
Wedding was lovely, bride looked so pretty. It's a second marriage for her and the groom, and they are so in love - it's wonderful to see. All their kids are teens and very supportive of their new step parents so it should be happy ever after :T
We're all meeting for breakfast, then DH and I will look at some houses for sale before heading home. It's only an hour away so that will be nice and easy. Need to do a food shop later and a couple of washes.
Have a fab day all, big hugs to those in need x0 -

Good Morning everyone, still no rain down here snd we desperately need some but it is cooler this morning so no complaints.
Pottering day for me too today and processing veg and fruit for storing for the winter in one way or another. Heard from DD1 in Zambia yesterday and they'd had a couple of thier tents trashed by elephants while they were out on a night safari, apparently the ones with the food in them but they leave the campsite for thier flight to Johannesburg at 5 this morning so not really a problem and they can get breakfast at the airport if they have to. They've had an amazing time out there but she's looking forward to sleeping in a bed again!!!
Hope all the poorlies are feeling better today, look after yourselves, Lyn xxx.0 -
Morning all,
Oh dear, oh dear. I've had the most exhausting week in the office with early starts and staying late, yet my body still decided 7am was a good time to wake today. I think I had the massive pile of ironing on my mind so ended up getting up to tackle it. I haven't started on it yet and it's almost an hour and half later! This might be my problem as to why the pile is so big!
Think I'm going to put the kettle on, throw open the curtains and try to motivate myself!
Have a lovely weekend all!0 -
Morning All
Had a good nights sleep so feeling better today, felt so tired yesterday. I did manage to clear mount washmore and get it out on the line. Also did all the ironing so feeling pleased to get that out of the way.
Got my big suitcase back up in the loft and brought down the little one for going on Monday, we are hand luggage only so will have to pack carefully!
Dusted downstairs - don't think DD did that the month that I was away! Hoovered through and cleaned the bathrooms so feel that I have regained control! Not enough washing for a load today and it's trying to rain anyway.
Just dropped DD at the station, I am meeting her later from work and we have tickets for the womens hockey final of the Commonwealth Games tonight, looking forward to that. I will get the train from here and we can get the train home. Too busy to try and park in Glasgow and the transport has been really good to and from the venues.
Off for a swim when the pool opens at 9, need to do more exercise and stop eating so much! Have a good weekend. Take care. XX0 -
Mornin' to all Os'ers :hello: - hope today finds us fighting fit, with
for those who aren't.
redruby - thanks for starting us off today. Have a good day in work and :j to your OH for taking charge at home - enjoy your curry evening.
jlhmd666 - sorry to hear that you're not sleeping too good. I know how it feels cos I've not slept properly since I retired - seriously thinking of getting blackout blinds for the bedroom. :T on your breadmaking - wish it was something that I could get right.
Hard Up Hester - sorry to hear your friend felt it necessary to 'jump ship' workwise ........... it's so unsettling when our work environment changes so much that it demoralises us. Enjoy your day with the dgk's.
candlelight - enjoy your trip to the hairdresser and the farm shop.
dandy-candy - good to hear that the wedding went well. Enjoy your house-hunting - fingers crossed that you get some good ideas of what you want and can get within your price range.
Mum was quite a bit brighter yesterday and she's finally been moved into a 'side-room' in the hospital due to the ESBL infection that she's picked up while in there - been waiting over a week for this room to become available. I wasn't very happy with the staff though - they hadn't given her a jug of water in the morning when she is supposed to be on 'monitored fluids'. Then they'd moved her into this side-room that has a glass wall where none of the windows can be opened and it was like a conservatory in there. When I checked the thermo on the wall it registered 82F . Mum asked for water, then I had to ask twice before the ward sister asked the 'tea-lady' to go and get a jug for her - can't wait to get Mum out of there ....................... I'm sure we'll all be able to do better for her once we get her settled into her own place. She might also sleep a bit better by herself, as she's been complaining about two other patients wandering and shouting during the night.
Plans for today include:- Have a quick clean-up - the flat is very neglected recently - and hang yesterday's laundry to dry on the airer. I'm definitely not trusting the weather
.
- Have a shower and get ready for an extra shift at the CS this afternoon.
- Haslet and Salad for evening meal tonight. OH has been 'muttering' about having chicken, so I've had to promise him a Roast Chicken Dinner for Monday :rotfl:
- He's also muttering about having the duvet back on the bed, but I'm still feeling overheated at night - so he's sleeping in his cotton dressing gown just now
.
Take care and have a good OS day, everybody - luv Lilyplonk xx
Edited to add - sorry, I missed out lots of peeps who posted while I got distracted doing my own.
good advice - enjoy your reading in the garden.
bargainbird - Hey a freezer challenge :j! - if you're anything like me, it means time for 'weird and wonderful combinations'. Hope 'finances' pick up soon for you and that you can manage to have a restock fairly soon.
MrsLurcherWalker - thank the Lord that your DD was on night safari when the elephants decided to 'pay a visit to the food tent'. Enjoy your veg storing preparations - sounds brilliant.
SammyJ - you got up early to tackle the ironing  ................ you're definitely made of stronger stuff than I am.
camelot - omg another one who irons -hangs head in shame
- enjoy the Hockey in Glasgow later.
