The article goes on to also put the spotlight on companies who 'employ' PPCs (principal/agent relationships) - suggesting joint and several liability, and likens the potential outcome of this akin to the PPI mis-selling scandal.

It goes on to comment on the earnings and lifestyles of the odious squad of beneficiaries leeching on the misfortunes of motorists, who sport sumptuous mansions, high spec Mercs, Aston Martins and Audis as well as awarding themselves excessive salaries (SRS predictably mentioned in dispatches in this context), mega share dealings and private education for their offspring.

And now for the quote to beat any quote, and to emphasise the total hypocrisy of this scandal, comes from one who trousered £17 million from the sale of his PE shares to Capita:

‘Parking is an industry with a very dark past; an industry that has seen its fair share of cowboys,’ Mr Taylor conceded, and like anyone else he is disgusted at the thought of hospital patients being targeted and pensioners being charged for overstaying by a few seconds.

‘We would never, ever have done that,’ he maintained, saying he and his partners ran ParkingEye in a ‘sensible, ethical way’.

Well he'd better tell that to Rachel then! It makes me want to vomit.

shall we remind ourselves of the words of Sir Robin Jacob the last time Parking Eye visited the Court of Appeal when Parking Eye was run in a "sensible , ethical way"

What is the difference from these parasites then the parasites who charge pensioners a couple of £K to do a £200 job. All I can see is they spread their pillaging around many rather then one, and they don't specialise in pensioners.

Usual DM blame labour bits in there, they forgot to mention keeper liability crept through on the ConDems watch. Which made it easier for these parasites to threaten people.

As for the ex PE directors trying to deflect it to the new owners, and describing it as car park management b#ll#cks.

What a great start to the day.

In my mind though, there is a lack, so far, about the accountability of the professionals involved.

Surely their governing bodies should be taking action, after all, it is their role to protect the public.

What about the news to day that £1000s of pounds of foreign cars do not pay parking tickets, surprise, surprise, why dont they do something about those instead, & the DM devote pages & pages to that, some hope.

They've been talking on Bbc Breakfast this morning about parking fines. Councils all over the Country are losing out thousands of pounds every year 'cos of foriegn drivers who get tickets but can't be traced afterwards. They're allowed to be in the Uk for up to 6mths without registering their vehicles.
I was wondering does that work in reverse ? If i were to go to Spain; France, or Germany could i getaway with fines i pickup there.

What about the news to day that £1000s of pounds of foreign cars do not pay parking tickets, surprise, surprise, why dont they do something about those instead, & the DM devote pages & pages to that, some hope.

But we're talking about tens and tens of £millions being fleeced from our very own citizens every year, not a relatively few £thousands from visitors.

Does not the same thing apply to our drivers abroad? Seen many posts on driving/parking websites asking "Should I pay this", DM to devote pages to this?
