Trade in value?
Its been a few months coming but im hoping to get a new car in 4-6 weeks.
Now im debating getting a Nissan qashqai (2010-2011ish possibly newer). I expect it to be in the region of £10k assuming mileage is not sky high.
My current (first) car is a Corsa, 1ltr with around 60,000 on the clock, generally speaking its not too bad - couple of minor dents in the back bumper (from the previous owner) and a dent on the door which is where someone elses door has been opened into it. The alloys are pretty scuffed (partly my fault, mostly the previous owners - im blaming her for it all). Aside from that, it goes pretty well, black and no scratches other than the above.
Does anyone know roughly what it would be worth is I was trading in for something like the above?
I was hoping in the region of £1k?

I'd expect around £2k as a trade in value. The body and paintwork of a 8 year old car isn't expected to be perfect. A dealer will look to make £600 on it.0

So a £10k car, I could hand that in and get it for £8k?
Dont worry im not going to hold you to anything, but thats a lot more than I was thinking.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I've had another search. It really varies whether or not it is the old or new shape. A 2006 55 plate of the old shape is more like £1k but a 56 plate in the newer shape is up to double that (you have stated yours is a 56 plate).
If you look on eBay you can see them selling for around the 2-2.5k mark depending on condition and whether it is a dealer or not. Arnold Clark are listing a few examples for up to £3k and as I said they will look to make £600 on it.
What matters of course if price to change. How the sales person likes to fiddle their figures doesn't matter to you, only what you have to hand over in exchange actually counts 0 0

            Thanks for the replies...
Its basically this but in black and a 56 plate not 06 (I have no idea which is newer).I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. 56 is newer and that shape £800-1100.0

56 is newer than 06 (the low numbers cover March - August, the higher number September - February of the next year: so your car was registered between September 2006 and February 2007). I'd be surprised if the dealer offers you much more than £1000 to start with, unless the new car is grossly overpriced.0

So £1k is probably a maximum?I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
