See... this is the thing about this forum, a majority of the people on this here assume things and they they know exactly what went on more than the OP!
I am not contributing to this post anymore. I have found a solution to the problem now.
Thank you to everyone to gave constructive advice and opinions.
I don't blame you for retiring from the thread. There is always someone who has to give pedantic and negative and judgemental responses.
Anyone who suggests it's OK for someone to film your husband who was a bit tipsy in his OWN garden, and then play it back and mock him, (and that it's your OWN fault this is happening,) is either on crack or they are just being deliberately argumentative or pedantic.
No WAY is this acceptable. Whether it is illegal, I don't know: (maybe check with the police or a solicitor; ) but it is certainly immoral, and weird. I WOULD get nets up, be careful what you do when anyone can possibly see you, and think about moving.
Hopefully, the posters saying you brought it on yourself, and it serves you right, and the neighbour has done nothing wrong, will have a neighbour do this to them one day; see how THEY like it!(•_•)

You don't need to install security devices as a reaction to actual events but to prevent future ones....it's about risk management.0 -

Anyone can record anything they like as long as they ( or their camera ) is positioned either on their property or on public property.
This isn't the case. In certain circumstances moveable cameras can photograph or video anything they like - though only what is viewable from a public place. But a fixed, static camera has no such rights.0 -

We do not have any blinds or curtains in the kitchen because we like to look out into the garden to see if there is anyone trying to get in to get a ball or using it as a short cut and then we just give them a look to tell them they should not be there!

tbh if i was expecting people to use my garden as a short cut or to let themselves in to get a ball without first asking, to the point I don't bother having blinds in my kitchen just in case, then I would consider them intruders & would possibly consider CCTV myself.0 -
question is why would he erect a CCTV camera that is point at, not away from his house? most people would put one up facing away from the property, to capture them coming in not going away your more likely to get a face shot that way.
I would raise the issue with the neighbor and tell him you feel their cctv camera intrudes their privacy, and respectfully relocate it so it cannot capture any of your property. if this fails, seek your local police station and ask the police to attend to check that your property and privacy are being respected, after a warning form police of ramifications of being sued if he doesn't adhere to the police request to relocate, he should move it.0 -

I agree, I find it odd that the camera points towards the house. And yes, check with the police to see if they are breaking any laws/bye-laws.You didn't, did you? :rotfl::rotfl:0
