You can use black out curtains/blinds, but I find they still let some light in so I wear an eye mask to sleep.

Me too plus ear plugs to keep out snoring husband!
  • I made shutters out of 6mm mdf. They work well and were cheap as chips.
yeah I was about to say but you beat me to it! did that for an attic room, then it got hot so I put bacofoil on the outer edges of the shutters and held it with a heavy duty staple gun! - cheap as f.....

edit - light still annoyed me at this stage, even though it was now very dark, so to sort this I got draught excluder and ran it down the sides of the MDF , now it's blacker than coal at 12 noon!!!

You've posted 2 months too late, you won't be awakened at thast time now, 2 months earlier? yes.

Right seriously I am an insomniac of some sort, I don't sleep as most folks do.

But I love the first hours of the day be they at 2.30am or 8.30 am.
they are the best times of the day, use them.

    (or get a life)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

I have blackout roller blinds that are fixed to the outside of the window frame in 2 of my bedrooms, and you can't see a thing.

One word of advice, never get blackout blinds for teenagers bedrooms. They don't need any encouragement to sleep for any longer than they already do!

Thanks, I go one of two ways with light one if its pitch black I sleep heavily, a little light I can tolerate if its constant around same level, minor light and above makes my brain think its waking up time.

During the day though I like as much light as possible for the same reasons, unless its bright I fall asleep with dull light.

Hmm I tried pinning the quilt covers above the curtain pole and that has blocked out a lot of light but means its hard to move the covers without pulling them down.
