Callers Are Scams

My husband got a call from this number 07509701181, they said he had accident last 3 years, then he said no, and he asked them, where did they get his number from, and they put the phone down, he rang back and got an answer service, I know lots ring up people about this sort of thing but there should be something to stop this type of harassment, some times calls come through 3x a week various bogus companies.

I did a search and found others complaining of same number as well on a review site. It seems that anyone can get your number these days.

Question is. Where do they get our mobile numbers from?
And is there a proper complaints service to go to about this?

It's just a number. It will be in the format 07XXXXXXXXX so (simplistically) they have a computer start dialling from 07000000000 and work its way to 07999999999 so it's bound to strike lucky some time.
