Surely there are less tariffs now to choose from, that was what Ofgem wanted to do among other things.
If I go to a comparison website for dual fuel results it lists 67 tariffs and 43 fixed tariffs.
There are variable Daily Standing charges,
Economy 7 electricity alters the cost of each tariff. then there are weird tariffs E10, Heatwise, etc.
Discounts vary. etc etc0 -

You are right, there are only less tariffs - still a long way to go before we can say there are fewer tariffs.
The number of tariffs are still, effectively, uncountable.0 -

The bill of £153 is the amount used plus 5% VAT. Slightly better off, as the BG bill would have had VAT on as well making it £164.
All other things being equal of course. You'd have to add in any additional discounts that you do or don't get e.g. paperless billing, dual fuel if applicable, DD 'discount'. etc. Didn't have the time to do a cost comparison over a year, as it will probably make a difference when usage is higher or lower, plus as a previous poster said, it would appear that BG would have a standing charge anyway now.
Splitting hairs, I make the cost of the BG tariff using Tier 1 pro-rata(75/365 x 720), to be £145(to the nearest £)
75/365 x 720 = 148kWh @ tier 1 rates. 148 x 23.597p = £34.92.
1,001kWh at tier 2 rate of 11.035p = £110.46 So a total of £145.38.
We don't know if the quoted BG figures are VAT inclusive or exclusive. However if VAT were to be added then the BG total would be £152.650
