I think you are wrong there

they still use pre cure or cold re treading for truck and bus tyres and you may also find that some aircraft tyres are cold retreaded as well, i dont think you will find a pre cure tyre to fit on a car but it is certainly not a process from a bygone age

Absolutely correct force ten - no pre-cures for car tyres as they were made illegal.

Yes - that's right - pre-cure stick on retreads are now illegal on cars so yes that's from a bygone age.

But I still come back to the confusion in many peoples heads that retreads and remould are the same thing. A retread does not need to be heated in a mould.

I don't care if Rospa, AA, RAC, or any other motoring organisation say they are the same - they are not.

However the words have entered into common usage as being the same, and I accept that the English language is a constantly changing thing.

I don't want this to become a boring old fart's rant about mis-use of language - but I used to hear my students saying things like "You know what I mean." and "Whatever" on a daily basis.

I long ago ceased correcting the BBC and other broadcasters who should show a good example.

Here are some of my my favourites which I now just smile at. :D

People who say 'America' when they mean the USA.
People who think that the UK is Great Britain - or think that Ireland is not part of the British Isles.
    Petrol is inflammable.
    Holland means the Netherlands.
All vacuum cleaners are Hoovers - but I'll accept that statement if you spell hoover with a lower-case 'h'.

And yes I am pedantic - I was employed for nearly 40 years to be one - oh the joy of grading university students submissions. ;)

To me language is fun - don't get upset about it - I'm not.

Language, and everything, moves on. Some people don't, so It's their choice. Move with them, or stay in the past.

    You missed my point, nobby.

I did not confirm or deny I had a pension - what intrigues me is what a pension has to do with this thread.
