I am assuming the Virgin Box has a SCART or phono outputs. Plug the Virgin SCART output into the modulator. Plug the co-ax into the modulator aerial style socket. The kitchen end stays the same, but you need to choose the RF channel the kitchen TV sees, in analogue mode.
Should work.
If you have a VCR, you can try using the built-in RF modulator.
They don't always convert the SCART input to RF (aka UHF).
Note that sometimes the SCART has to be configured to output RGB or S-Video, or composite video, and it doesn't work because it's in the wrong mode.0 -

The Virgin TIVO has no RF out so you cannot connect it via the aerial lead you have previously been using. An RF modulator is useless without RF out from the box.
You also dismissed the use of a long HDMI cable and splitter.
Only realistic option I can see which fulfils any of your criteria is to use the aerial to receive Freeview channels.
its not that im being awkward but there is no way you could hide new cabling it would mean cabling running around skirting and would need to be about 50m the old cable runs under the floor.0 -

Probably work through SCART, but the picture will be very poor and, again, will need new cabling the OP does not want.http://www.toolstation.com/shop/p80695?mkwid=sXtNT3Pvt_dc&pcrid=26548058125&pkw=av+modulator&pmt=b&gclid=CL3Lz4608L8CFfOhtAodHSMAYg

Whatever picture quality you had with the old set up, it should be the same using the RF modulator. it is only standard resolution, of course, not HD.
I am not recommending the one in the link, I never bought it. It's just a generic example.0 -

why would i need new cabling this unit seems the way to go.0 -
Your choice, outdated SCART connection would certainly not suit my needs.dave030445 wrote: »why would i need new cabling this unit seems the way to go.0 -
