Where do you get your insurance quotes?
I've tried comparethemarket and money supermarket so far and the difference in lowest price isn't small (imo anyway). £502 and £554 respectively for same features TPF&T.
Going to try Google comparison at some point although remembering it from last year I recall their quotes coming in a couple hundred quid more than other sites. (Although last year our policy was coming in at about £800 anyway).
So where do you go for your quotes?
Frankly I want the cheapest price possible, no added extras, no fancy features, cheap cheap cheap - since the policy is worth about as much as the car anyway

Halfway down the page there is a list of most (all?) the comparison sites and those companies who aren't on them or have special deals separate to the comparison sites.
Work your way through them and you should get the cheapest.
It also states that don't assume TPT&T is cheapest, sometimes fully comp is cheaper.
Good luck, I start my search tomorrow. Had my renewal and had a quick look around and, with the same company I am with now, exactly the same details but 1 year more NCB, as a new customer it was £100 less than my renewal notice :eek:0 -
The article above is excellent. Only two issues are do you want cheapest or best insurance and then which Meerkat do you want to pick?0

Confused.com, CompareTheMarket for the free toy and the players that dont go onto the aggregators like DL and Aviva.
I do try and support local business by checking with a local broker and as my "stuff" gets more expensive they are getting closer in price but so far still fit within some mass market policies and so usual end up buying online... M&S/Axa for Home and Aviva for Motor this year.0 -
Is there any specalist insurers for your type of vehicle?0

We have a 51 plate Ford Focus so probably not
Just got a quote from Aviva and was surprised to be offer NCB protection, didn't think this was possible until 5 yr mark... but their quote came in £175 more (£100 after cashback).
So possibly consider NCB protection, but otherwise looking for basically cheapest policy going - all I care for is ticking all the boxes legally IE TP protection.0 -

I than went to hasting website and got new quote directly from them after clearing browser history and it came back at £746 for same details. i think comparison website charge insurance companys so they in turn charge us more.
Same with cashback websites as well. i got quote through them and difference was more than the cashback amount.0 -

I don't use the on-line comparison sites. If you want to know why, just have a good long read of their Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy, etc.
Instead, I just grab the Yellow Pages and pick a few likely companies. I go for a mixture of brokers and direct companies. Then I phone them. It doesn't take long to find out what is the going rate for insurance that year.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -

Hmm, interesting, i've just gone on the website of the two cheapest quotes and their quote direct is coming in just short of £100 more than it is on comparethemarket0
