Lets just say people who have dealt with this land lord end up in the xxxx the only advice my wife had was from the local council saying if we could get something on him that would be great but unfortunately you won't get away from this and you may as well accept liability!!

You had court papers for a court case on the 2nd July?
Did you reply to the court? Did you submit a defence within the required timeframe?
If you did not submit a defence then maybe a judgement was made against you anyway?
It appears that the judgement has gone against you on the 22nd July.
If you can clarify we may be able to help you better.
As I think I said before you can apply to the court to pay in installments.

explains that you have 14 days to reply to the court and that you should have submitted a partial admission and a partial defence. Did you do this?
