nPower: Deceitful, Arrogant & Vindictive

Charge #1: Deceitful
I phoned nPower to change my gas & electric for new tenants who don't speak good English. The system said "Give us your number and we'll call you back. Don't worry you won't lose you place in the queue".
Load of rubbish. Having waited nearly 2 hours I called them back on the same number, and sorted the change. 10 minutes later I get the callback as promised "without losing my place in the queue."
Charge #2: Arrogant
I wrote to complain 2 weeks ago no reply.
Charge #3: Vindictive
Instead they promised and sent letters to say both gas and electric meters would be changed on the same day. Only one has been changed and the guy took the key with him. So we are left with no key to top up.
I'm sure it a nice little get-you-own back how-dare-you-comain thing.
Energy companies have too great a monopoly and should be brought back under state-ownership.
I know the nPower rep on here likes to say nice things. I'm sure I'll be told "Just tell us who you are". What so you can put me on a blacklist???

Your problems pale into insignificance compared with other NPower-related stuff posted here. I do agree with the title of your post though. I'd also add "incompetent in the extreme".0

they have language line, get your tennant to ask for an interpritatorDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

I'd put it all down to incompetence, not deceitful, arrogant & vindictive.
I think nPower have better things to be worrying about that trying to get one over on customers to be honest!0 -

Is my example a coincidence or deceitful with misconduct?...
I've just come to end of tariff deal, so I'm free to chose next tariff and supplier....
Latest bill... Received last week has £60 in debit, and suggests a mthly DD of £85 and the same bill predicts the next yr of usage to come to £1400 ....
It doesn't take an accountant level of skill to see there is a problem with the DD....
Or .... a way to make the casual bill reader think WOW my DD has decreased drastically I had better stay with this company!Peace.0 -

I have just moved over my Dual Supply of Gas and Electricity from NPower to another energy supplier (First Utility).
My NPower account shows I am still in Credit in the amount of £275.50.
Since First Utility do now have the "Industry" Gas and Electricity Meter readings (I presume these "Industry" readings were taken by the professional Meter Reader?), which are dated 10 July 2014, to kick off my new supplies then I have to conclude that NPower also have these exact same readings to act as Closing Readings to terminate my supplies with them and thereby produce my final closing invoice.
My NPower invoices have only been prepared TWICE PER YEAR and the last two were dated:
27 January 2014
5 June 2014
So my invoice for usage will cover the period from 5 June 2014 to 10 July 2014.
Q1. Since NPower have only been producing my bills 'twice per year' will I have to wait until January 2015 before they produce the next and final one on my account?
Q2. If not, how long should it take for NPower to produce my Final Bill and take the money out of the £275.50 Credit Balance? An estimate of time will suffice.
eg. 'About 1 month' or 'About 3 months' or 'About 6 months' will do as answers.
Q3. After taking the money due to settle the bill a lower Credit Balance will be left. I estimate this will be around £150 -£200 or so. Will I have to ask NPower for it to be remitted to me or will they return it automatically?
NOTE1: I have left the Direct Debit open and have not closed it.
NOTE2: I notice that my regular DD payments of £185.00 per month have not continued to be taken and have now actually ceased but there is still the matter of the large credit balance of £275.50 and the preparation of my Final Bill so as to do the termination of supply cleanly.0 -

Hi doc Proc
It would be great to post this as a new thread and then the NPower rep might respond to you. I am facinated to see what their response will be.
You are quite a few weeks ahead of me w.r.t. Leaving NPower so it would be great to hear how you get on. Many poeple on here do not have first hand experience of NPower and have quite strong opinions of poeple that complain about NPower. These deluded people have no idea about the billing system esp the once or twice a yr billing and DD review and the mess it creates.
I'd make sure you print all information from your online NPower login if you don't already have a hard copy. You will lose the ability to log in and lose the chance to prove your case if needed.
Your question about the final bill and getting your money back is very valid.
I haven't yet initiated leaving NPower, I'm going to wait until I find out a bit more from poeple's experiences before I take the leap.Peace.0
