Mobile Phone Upgrades & Cancellations

Options
How comes Carriers allow customers to upgrade a month early and begin a new 24 month contract without paying the remaining month but customers are not allowed to cancel or terminate the contract one month early without penalty.

surely if Carriers are getting payments in advance customers are allowed to terminate the contract a month before it ends already. i don't seem to understand the reason behind this except that they want the customer to stay with that network. any insight will help

When you upgrade early you are entering a contract to continue giving them money for another 25 months (don't be fooled into thinking that they give you the month you upgraded for free)

If you cancel, then you are not going to be giving them anymore money so they will want to take the remainder of the contract from you.

However, if you are giving them notice a month early (based onthat you need to give them 30 days) it shouldn't cost anything once the cancellation comes into force
