Just after a bit if advice! I was wondering if it was possible for me to cancel my contract with VF due to having no signal for 2 weeks now? When I do get a signal, calls drop within literally a minute.
I have asked to cancel without penalty, but got told I would have to pay £480 to cancel!
This situation I am in is really no good, as I have a 2 year old daughter who had major surgery 3 and a half weeks ago, and my mobile phone is the only form of communication I have in an emergency!
I was offered compensation for downtime, but that can only be issued once the problem is resolved, and they are unaware of how long its going to take!
Thanks in advance

In that case go and get a cheap payg sim/phone asap.ANURADHA KOIRALA ??? go on throw it in google.0 -
Have a look for the T&Cs. There should be a clause in there about how long the service has to be down for before you can cancel. I'm sure it's for more than 2 weeks though0

Not sure of whether you can cancel - depends on what the issue is and when it's likely to be fixed. Also, could it be your phone that's at fault or does it happen in just one area?
You should still be able to call the emergency services if necessary as emergency calls go through any available network in the area.0 -
Its not the phone! My husbands work phone is Vodafone as well, and he has to go elsewhere at the minute on a friday!
They are aware of the issue.
I rang last week after a week of problems, to be disconnected mid call.
They tried ringing me back, but due to the lack of signal went straight to voicemail!
I was informed that the problem would be resolved by Friday 25th July, which it hasn't!
Thanks for the replies

Have a look here, it states that under the Supply of goods and services Act 1982 that your operator must provide a service. And if the signal is consistently not available or dropping out then they are breaching that contract

The OP doesn't specify how widespread the issue is. For example, can they get a signal if they walk to the end of their drive, or is there no signal within a 2 mile radius etc? I believe this is important in what may be the end result.
No network provider guarantees 100% coverage, but if the signal was fine until recently (I'm guessing this as the OP hasn't stated either way), rather than the OP moved house or similar, it does strengthen their argument.
I'm not sure if 2 weeks would be considered long enough to cancel without penalty though.
A final point. Putting aside the original issue which isn't going to be solved overnight, if the OP needs a mobile phone due to his daughter's health then getting a PAYG sim on a different network should be the first thing they do.0 -
Two years ago I went without signal at my home for approx 6 weeks and my father was desperately ill in hospital, over an hours drive away. Vodafone had a mast cell problem and was having trouble trying to fix it. I asked to cancel but like you was told I would have to pay remainder of my contract which I wasn't going to do. They sent me a sure signal which was ridiculous as no coverage in the area. So I am afraid you are stuck with Vodafone. I purchased another SIM card like someone here as already suggested and that got me through the next few weeks until the problem was solved.0

And if theres no coverage in the area how come the problem was solved ?It's not just about the money0 -
