Morning All
DG - Hope you get that allergy sorted out soon, sounds horrid.
Not had much time on here, I was home about an hour on Saturday and my Cousin and her husband arrived. We have been at the Rugby Sevens at the Commonwealth Games twice which were late nights but brilliant fun. Had to give in on Monday and go for a sleep! We were out all day yesterday at the Isle of Cumbrae (Millport for anyone local!). Rode about on our bikes and had a swim in the water - it was jolly cold! Not the best day weatherwise but enjoyed it all the same.
It was DDs birthday yesterday (22) so she had a day at the seaside! Made chicken stir fry and rice/noodles when we got in and it was jolly tasty.
I went to a cookery class when I was in Thailand and got a recipe book so shall be making green curries, etc! I loved the food there, so fresh and healthy.
Having a quiet morning and then visiting friends this afternoon with my visitors so they can swim in Loch Lomond, I may have to have a dip too!
Hugs and well wishes to everyone, take care. XX0 -
Morning all, who is wearing glamor in the sun?
I was wearing my one pair of shorts and a simple stringy t.shirt yesterday.
Today it will be a dress.
Much nicer than winters trousers and thermal long sleeved top and jumper.
I pegged the washing on the line at 7am. Washed it last night and had the basket ready this morning for the pegging out.
Last night I made scrambled egg for the dog - she had her lady opp yesterday. Vet recommended a light dinner of egg or chicken. Well we did not have any chicken.
I cut up a whole melon and x2 oranges and put in a lock and lock box for summer eating :0). Refreshing, nice and cool.
The visit to see MIL went well, i think she was glad to see us.
popping down town in a little while.
Back from my walk around our small town. I went in several shops but nothing jumped out and shouted BUY ME! so no money spent.
I did hear a little girl of abour 8 say loudly to her mum " stop spending all the money on yourself!" talk about a cringe moment!
Back home Oh got the sun umbrella out @ the table and we had lunch on the patio. Bread rolls, sausage roll and a delicious pud. Vanilla cheese cake few berries = strawberry, blackberry and raspberry. Scoop of raspbery/vanilla icecream.
Now on my desk top - looking around and completeing some surveys.
Dinner = HM McDonalds. 1/4 lb burger in roll and fiz from the soda stream. The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -

DG as your eyes are now irritated it would be wise to get it seen to I think.
dumpling if it was serious you would have had the conversation already, I think. I understand your worry as we all do but lots of calming thoughts until tomorrow
Well, I had my scan yesterday and I have a large 19mm stone blocking the entrance to the gallbladder and a slightly smaller stone blocking the bile duct hence all the pain. I now have to go back to the Dr (next available appointment is on Friday) and discuss the results.
Yesterday's chicken lasagne went down really well. The leek and potato soup was a success and the brioche rolls were ok according to almost everyone else, although laddo really liked them. They were a faff to make though so not sure I would make them often.
No baking today. We are off on a picnic then it's a trip to the hairdressers this afternoon.

Hi all,
I'm back again! Been really busy lately. Got a lady from the council coming today to fill in my grant form. My wet room should be done at the end of August/beginning of September, can't wait!:T
My DGCH were christened together a couple of weeks ago, that was a lovely day and we've been to three weddings too!
Next week it will be a year since I had my tumour out. Doctors told me that as they hadn't got it all, it would probably killme in a year, well, I'M STILL HERE! and intend to be for a long time yet!:T
Hope everyone is okay. Donny get that eye checked out love.
Enjoy the sun xI Believe in saving money!!!:T
A Bargain is only a bargain if you need it!0 -
Good Morning everyone, slightly cooler here last night and nice and sunny again this morning with a lovely breeze. Last evening when we were watering in the garden and hothouses the breeze was scented with newly cut hay which is delicious and later someone was having a bonfire and burning fruit wood prunings and it smelled of autumn and made me wish for misty mornings and that smell of chrysanthemums, not long to go before that happens I think.
I'm off to the city today to get my DD who comes back from the Zambia trip on Monday a pamper pack of hair conditioner, hand and nail conditioners, foot soak and scrub etc. and some nice new undies and pyjamas as she'll have been travelling very light (15 kilos max) for the last 3 weeks and as she says, even if you wash I wouldn't want to sit next to any of us on the plane home!!! It's something we've always done for both girls when they've been away on expedition and they enjoy the luxury of it!!!
The garden is so dry it's like a hayfield and lots of the softer outside grown things like lettuce and rocket have suffered mightily in the heat. What is going great guns though is the blackberries on the back fence which are giving me a colanderfull of lovely juicy ripe berries every evening. They're going into the freezer as we just can't keep up eating them all and the raspberries are producing in bulk too. It looks like a good cooking apple year as well so I'll make chutney and freeze apple puree which is useful in the winter. We're having a play with my new Geporge Foreman grill tonight and cooking some sausages which we'll have with the first of the maincrop potatoes, mashed, veg and glorious GRAVY because it's cool enough.......Bliss!!!
Have yourselves a good day all, Lyn xxx.0 -
Mornin' everybody :hello: - got a real drop in temps here this morning. Had drizzly rain on/off yesterday - but not enough to warrant wearing a jacket. Looks like we've got plenty of clouds for the rest of today and then rain forecast for the remainder of the week, all weekend and right through next week. Wouldn't you know it, there's always a price to be paid following a heatwave :rotfl:.
Sorry to hear your reaction has gone to your eyelid now, donny-gal - make sure you go and have it checked out asap.
Sounds as though everybody has got busy days planned for today.
Everybody going to work, hope your days work out well.
Have a good day at Tilbury Fort with the family, JackieO.
dumpling - I'm with jlhmd666 on this one. I'm sure the doc wouldn't be having the chat over the phone if he was going to give you any bad news. My doc insists on everybody going into the surgery for blood test results - which is an absolute pain in the rear when it's just to tell you that 'all's well'! Sending you positive vibes for your chat.
for all who need, or want, them.
I'm afraid we're still feeling a bit bloated after yesterday evening's Chinese Buffet - perhaps the Lager Shandy didn't help the digestive system :undecided:.
Plans for today include:- Sort packed lunches for OH and myself. He's off to his training course and I've got an afternoon shift in the CS today.
- Quick whoopsie trawl in A$da after I finish in the shop. Could do with some Fabric Softener and Bleach as well while I'm there.
- Mushroom Omelet with Salad for evening meal tonight.
Hope everybody has a good day of OS-ing - take care all - luv Lilyplonk xx0 - Sort packed lunches for OH and myself. He's off to his training course and I've got an afternoon shift in the CS today.

Morning all
I've not been to tilbury fort Jackie. I should do really, it's only half hour away. It has clouded over here mind you, just so you know.
I e got to go to Aldi soon. With the small child. Hopefully he won't have a meltdown. I put the shop on my supermarket. The difference in prices is astounding. Sainsburys wasn't much more. But when I changed to sainsburys, they'd swapped lots of meat etc to the basics. I won't have basic meat/fish. So if I put in the better stuff, it worked out even more expensive. Waitrose was almost double the price
I've got basic housework to do today as usual. Also will declutter another drawer. Trying to do one a day when we are in all day.
Not sure how I'm doing the younger 2s dinner tonight as I have to pick up dd and her friend from the cinema right slap bang on dinner time. And through rush hour. I was thinking of just taking them to mcdonalds as that's where the girls will be after the cinema. Trouble is, if it's full and we can't get seated (as quite often happens in the Bas Vegas branch) then youngest will have a meltdown...!
Ok then, I will be off now.
Love hugs and spoons xxxxx0 -
Hi everyone,
jhlmd666, I know just how you are feeling - my gp treated me for years for acid reflux until I was in such pain last year I had to go to a & e to be told it was gallstones. Two weeks later they whipped my gallbladder out - one of the stones was an inch across, ouch.
Jo, hope you have a lovely day. Hilstep, good on you, keep fighting, dad's determination prolonged his life by a good two years.
I'm still not feeling great but am determined to do more today.
Have a good day.0 -
Morning all,
Hilstep. Congratulations on your 1 year milestone. We are so not prepared to lose you!
DG - Ring NHS Direct, they will tell you where you can get treatment for your allergy. You shouldn't have to suffer like this. I am trying to persuade hubby and son to have the hay fever injection. Tablets are not doing the job and I hear great things from this injection. Ive told them they need to talk it through with a doctor. They might listen to me one day.
I'm off out this afternoon. I arranged to go and see an old friend just over a week ago. We were at church together and since we both left, we rarely bump into eachother. We arranged to meet this afternoon at her house. I am so looking forward to seeing her. We bought up our babies together, our children are similar ages and we used to go down the clinic together to get the babies weighed. It will be so good to catch up with her.
I think hubby is going to clear out the other shed this afternoon.... well that's the plan anyway. Ive asked him to be ruthless as theres hardly any floor space. I would like to think eventually, both sheds can be combined into one and when the smaller of the sheds falls down, we can knock it down completely. Well that's the plan anyway..... My plan, but not necessarily his. He will need some gentle persuasion but i'll get there eventually I hope.
Disturbing news from my daughter in South Africa..... She's never heard of the Ebola outbreak out there in West Africa. I am sending her links and have suggested she gets Soldier's passport in order just in case. Both she and her partner have UK passports, its just Soldier that hasn't. My guess is that neither of them will abandon the babies though. Funny, South Africa made a big fuss of 'Mandela Day', but nothing has been shared about Ebola. My daughter says they call it 'Load Shedding'. Make of it what you will!
Shepherds pie for tea tonight. I'd best get started if I want to go out this afternoon.
Onwards and forwards,
have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
DG healing vibes for your poor eyes; I think a lot of allergies seem to be worse than usual this year, certainly my hay fever is worse than it's been in about a decade; and I'm being eaten alive by insects.I'm worried as I had some blood tests done recently and I received a letter asking me to make a telephone appointment with my doctor to discuss the results. It has kicked off my anxiety so I am thinking calming thoughts. Anyway, he's ringing tomorrow so I will know then what it is all about.hilstep2000 wrote: »Next week it will be a year since I had my tumour out. Jasper Spaniel is here.:T I've got him til Friday, while his humans move house. Very sensible to send him for a wee holiday, so he doesn't get all anxious seeing all his familiar stuff being loaded into a van, methinks.:oIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0
