On the last thread someone was talking about best car/insurance deals for 17 year olds. I'm just wondering if anyone found any info on the most economical car to insure etc. think someone mentioned buying new with insurance rolled in which sounded good and quite mse given the insurance prices . Tia

Just realised I didn't give you any helpful advice above...:rotfl:

Need a bit more information though...is it a 17 year old lad or lass? Any points on their provisional? What's your budget for their 1st car? Any named drivers they could add on their policy? (DO NOT 'FRONT' as that is illegal).

    :)

I finally got rid of the virus I got on my lappy. windows defender (free) got rid of it on a full scan.

my lappy was getting very slow and freezing often. the virus was taking up 100% of the cpu so lappy could not cope.

now its gone and I deleted other things as well. the cpu usage is down between 3 & 28%

so when I surf the net now pages open very quickly, its like having a brand new lappy.

so if your lappy is slow look at your task manager. on windows 7 you can right click the task bar at the bottom or ctrl alt delete.

when open, click processes tab. the higher the cpu is the more work your lappy is doing thus it runs slowly.

by the way I am not in any way lappy savvy but I did not want to pay to get it sorted.

Ive been looking into this a bit as DS1 turns 17 soon...
the problem with the new deals with insurance thrown in is that there is usually a min age of 21 or even 25 so unless you buy and 17 year old becomes named driver it isnt the best option...especially if you want them to accumulate a NCD.

We are still of the thinking that new is the way to go as there are loads of insurance group 1 cars with zero road tax that will still fit our bill...and with a couple we have managed to get them to sub the free insurance for a few exrtas instead....

In our neck of the woods insurance looks like it will cost around £800 on something new and we have also had quotes in the many thousands for a second hand starter car...so at the moment the thought is we will go with the new and at least hopefully have something much more reliable.
frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

    2017 toiletries challenge 179 out 145 in ...£18.64 spend

    Thanks TM.

The rest of the meat been fine with exception of sausages that blew out in the pack next day and were off. Would have went back with them but its 14 miles away.

Maybe email Morrisons Bananababe? They might sent you a voucher as an apology?
