Missed calls and internet access problems on Orange network
OH and I both have Orange (or whatever it is calling itself these days) mobile phones. Recently we both have first hand experience of incoming calls going direct to answerphone even as we are sitting next to the phone, waiting for it to ring in an area of excellent coverage where we have phoned the other person only shortly beforehand and are actively waiting for them to return the call. Anyone else experience this recently?.
OH, who uses his (Galaxy S3) to access data on the go, is also finding it increasingly difficult to get a continuous internet connection. Recently he was trying to look something up on Ebay and it kept dropping out. He said it was almost as though it would not support a look up unless he used the relevant app and he wondered if the intermittant access was an attempt to make you install the app rather than doing a direct lookup.
I have had so much difficulty even making a data connection with my Sony Xperia recently (only two apps, What's the Weather and Where's the Bus and it is less than a year old), that I took it into the shop to see if it was faulty. Unsurprisingly they said it was fine.
Does Orange have network capacity issues? Anyone else had this sort of problem (we live in Greater London by the way). And it there some sort of push into making you have a company's app rather than than being able to do a direct look up?.
We both have plenty of spare data capacity by the way, as we are hardly power users, do not watch films run apps or play games and always under-utilise our data allowance each month.

Firstly, I would try a soft reset. Turn the phone off, take the batteries out and then press the power button for a few seconds (that will disperse any residing electricity). Leave the batteries out for about 30 seconds.
After that put them back in and restart the phones.
Also, you could try clearing the RAM and force closing apps. There may be a software update ready for you too.
The apps are far better than direct look up because they are designed specifically for the phones they run on so are more aesthetically pleasing (I realise though that isn't always the case). But I've not heard of a direct push for apps over direct lookup0 -
Just to add, before anyone suggests it, we are not on call divert.
OH does not like apps which make your address book available to the supplier, hence the direct look up. He keeps the RAM "tidy" and any apps he does reluctantly have, cleaned out when not in use. His s3 is fully up to date for software upgrades.
We have been wondering if Orange does not have sufficient capacity to connect all its users in London and this is causing congestion which is getting worse?0 -
Have you checked the fault checker? Is it only in one area or every where. I doubt it's a capacity thing, more people would be screaming about it0
