Preparing old mobile to sell?

Hi, I am in the process of replacing my old Samsung Galaxy Y and would like to sell it once my new phone is set up.
I have found a good price at CEX and thought it was better to sell it there than risk any scams on Ebay.
Do I just delete my info, texts , contacts and so on - or do I need to do a factory reset?
If I do a reset what will it leave me with?

Gosh!
It doesn't matter much to me as I don't have anything of value on my phone but it's worth knowing........
I might try the Avast's app, just to see how it works.

It's worth saying that AFAIK hard reset doesn't erase the SD card.0
