The one plan 3 mobile

  • Hello
I've had a bit of a result in this department.
January 2012 I took out a 3 contract for a galaxy S2 (top of the range at the time) with a One plan and it cost me £36.25 a month (£41.43, but got a £5.18 discount for some reason). When my contract ran out in Jan 14 I waited for the S5 to come out before renewing my contract. By April 2014, when I went to get my new phone, they had stopped all you can eat tethering and had capped it to 2 GB (you could add on another 1 GB for an extra £5 which I thought was way over the odds). I took out a new contract for the phone with 200 minutes, 2000 3 to 3 minutes, ACE texts, ACE data and 2 GB tethering for £37 per month. Couldn't help being really vexed though as i don't have home broadband, I tether to my devices. Since then I've been trying to be careful with how I use my tethering, previously 12 GB (combined hot spot and mobile use) was used without even trying, but 'being careful' meant that I wasn't able to use most of my devices. Irritating, to put it mildly. Even 'being careful' 2 GB is not enough. So I phoned 3 to complain. I was on hold for a while but was eventually passed to the manager who agreed to put me back on the One Plan (2000 mins, 5000 texts, ACE data with no cap on tethering, plus 3 to 3 minutes) which I was on with my last contract, for £40 a month (with my S5). I didn't need to take out a new contract, it starts on my next bill date (16 days time), in the mean time they have given me FREE 1 GB extra tethering to see me out the rest of the month.
It's one of those things I'm thinking 'what's the catch?' But as far as I can see at the moment, there isn't one... Unless I won't be getting 4G... We'll see.... But at the moment I'm chuffed to bits! x
  • Oh and I thought you were still able to get the One Plan sim only if you ask (they don't advertise it) for about £18 a month... maybe they stopped that too x

Nope, dead and gone as of 15/07. It's not possible anymore.
