Internet Connection Stops
Comments

Reluctant_spender :- Will try the tweak test.
albertros :- You understood me correctly, pinging google worked, but ie at the same time didn't.0 -
it's a strange one.
what settings are ticked in IE, tools, internet options, connections?
and connections, lan settings
can you ping https://www.google.com successfully on all the pc's, when the problem occurs?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Seems odd. Only other thing to watch for is in routerstats on the router stats tab the uptime is recorded. If that is constant with the time since router rebooted at least you can rule out line problems. Recent trouble with TT has been with their authentication systems so although line stats are ok you lose sync. That will give the errors in your logs though yours seem ok.“I look like Spiderman at a funeral”~ Karl Pilkington0

In connections, only "Never dial a connection" is checked. In LAN settings, nothing is checked.0

deklan99,
the uptime is constant with the time since the router rebooted. Whilst ie was down, no new logs were created on the router.0 -
Well last thing I can think of is to upgrade the firmware. See here http://!!!!!!!.com/24wjwy for more details. Latest is just a couple of days old so there may be an issue which they have resolved recently.
Can't see anything else if your problem is with both wireless and wired connections and your line is stable.“I look like Spiderman at a funeral”~ Karl Pilkington0 -
deklan99 - What is this link? http://!!!!!!!.com/24wjwy
albertross - I will try pinging from the other computers next time it goes down.0 -

Following decklan99's comments, I visited the Netgear site and have downloaded the latest firmware. Under Modifications and Fixes for the latest firmware, it says
"Updated the firewall to address an issue where a forced PPP disconnect from the ISP could result in the router requiring user intervention to recover the connection. "
Not sure what a forced PPP disconnect is, but user intervention to recover the connection sounds like the problem that I was having. Only time will tell.0 -

I see even the word is blocked but you know what I mean.“I look like Spiderman at a funeral”~ Karl Pilkington0
