Excessive water bill

Hi,

I've received a water bill to close my account of £1086!!!!!
I've lived in the property for almost 3 years and have paid around £500 in that time.....
The charges for the last 6 months are only £186, I've tried questioning water co as to how the bill can be over £1000 but the woman on the phone had no idea what she was doing! They had even set up the payments to go to the wrong account!!
Can I dispute the figure and how??

Thanks in advance.

Well to start with you don't pay it stop any direct debits...then start the complaints process.

Get the meter readings confirmed. Do you have them?

How many people does this cover? Which supplier? £500 over 3 years isn't much.

£186 over 6 months is £1,116 over 3 years and you've paid £500 so you owe something. It may be correct so if you could post the meter readings and dates then you may get a better estimate here.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p
