Returning a hudl

Just to add I would have thought it would be fairly easy for the OP to argue that there is an inherent fault.
There are dozens of online threads describing the type of problem the OP is experiencing including on their own technical support.
As I mentioned, the latest system software has a utility that attempts to get round the problem. However "get round" (at best) is the operative word as it is hard to see how any system update can fix a hardware issue. The fact that this has been produced, many months after it was promised, must be an admission that there is a problem.
I am seriously considering returning mine. Although I've hesitated as it is better than many and I was concerned it would be replaced with one that turned out to be worse.0 -
We've also had problems with the hudl - it suddenly stopped charging properly and also we've had ours just over 8 months. When I phoned up, I was told that rather than repair or refund there policy is to offer a replacement 'like for like'. BUT, the replacement they have delivered is actually a refurbished model. When I contacted them to complain as I was expecting a new model , they said it was in the T&C that they only have to give a refurbished model . Are they allowed to do this ?0

Yes. You handed them a faulty but 8 months old Hudl. They gave you a refurbished Hudl. There's no reason why you should expect a brand new one in return for an old one.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
If I had a 8 month old tv which they couldnt repair , I would'nt expect them to replace it with a refurbished one so I don't see why it should be any different for a tablet.0

I would. If I had a 8 month old tv which they couldnt repair , I would'nt expect them to replace it with a refurbished one...
Your expectations are a little high.
The Sale of Goods Act does not state that any replacement should be a new one.
It might also be worth remembering that after six months the seller can ask you to prove that any fault is inherent.
It appears that Tesco have not enforced their right in this case.0 -
