Builder says leak Insurance company says not?!?

Options
We recently noticed damp on the internal ground floor walls of our house. It came up over night and was about 2 foot up the walls. We had a builder come round who took up some floor boards etc and then found the cause was a leaking pipe from the bathroom.

Insurance evaluator has now been round and said it was not a leak but likely rising Damp for which I am not insured and to contact the company who did the damp course 15 years ago.

Where do we go from here? I called the builder who is adamant there is no rising damp and as the walls have started drying out since the leak was fixed last week I agree. It is a semi and next door have no issue on their side. House is circ 1910

Get the insurance evaluator back out now.
  • Ask the builder to write you a letter and send it to them, registered post. Wait a few days and get on the phone to demand they take action. If they don't move on to the ombudsman.

He came this morning (a week after leak fixed) you can see it's drying out as the builder drew a pencil mark where the water mark was and the damp is now lower.
