in Credit cards
HiHas anyone here been offered a credit card or a loan automatically by LloydsTSB as their computer system updates, and the money going in to the bank account was all or in part Income Support? They state they dont take it in to account, but can their computer differentiate between it and earned income?James

Yes because anyone checking your account will see the description of funds as DWP-IS or whatever it is.0

Yeh, I know that. I was just wondering when the computer updates monthly and looks at your risk band (and whether or not to offer a credit card or loan), is it programmed to tell the difference and hence ignore the figure for calculations of income, or does it just look at the amount of money coming in?0

I have income support going in my bank, after asking for a review last year, they offered me a credit card and a loan. which i took!
Sorry, should have added, i reckon they look at the amount going into your account monthly. This is whats been said to me,not where the money comes from!0 -
Is it LloydsTSB? I have a formal repsonse from them saying they dont accept Income Support at all, although it is, if you are disabled as defined in the Disability Discrimination Act unlawful for them not to accept it as income. They told me they will happily accept my DLA thought, and to me it makes no sense, as I get the Income Support because I get the DLA. James0

Yes, it is Lloyds Tsb, with my HB, its over a £1000 going in each month! I have been with them for over 8 years, don't know if this accounts for anything.0 -
Cheers. It might be, I have not had my account for 6 months yet. It was just I went into the branch and the Senior Personal Banking Manager got me an offer of a "Duo 2 Gold Package" with a £3000 limit, I have at least £1000 going in per month. He tried to finish of the application on his PC, it would not let him, so he had to speak to another department and they said no it is being declined. Then I complained, and "card concerns" told me they were still not changing the decision, they said they treat everyone on Income Support the same. Which I did not beleive for a minute. James0

No thats true!! when i was first with them, couldnt get anything, then after abt 3 years i got upgraded, debit card, etc......had started work, they offered me loan/card last year, thought then i was still getting Working tax credits paid in(long story) but even this year, they gave me a review, and manager was offering me a £10.000 loan!!But it beggers belief, when they can see benefits being paid in!I didnt take that up, no way i can afford the £300-odd payments a month.0

It is odd, I agree.I initally started in March with a Classic Account with a 2-in-1 control debit card, which after 3 months and a referal to another department got upgraded to a Gold Service Account with a 3-in-1 card. I dont understand why I am good enough for a Gold Account, but not for a credit card. They saw I was "good for £3000", apparently it was agreed with fraud but when they could not move the application on as the referal codes were still on the computer he called Personal Lending Decisions, who said, sorry we dont take Income Support and took back the offer. Which is also contrary to Scots Law as verbal contracts are binding on both parties and he offered it to me and I accepted, and he was very embarassed about having to take it back. The £10,000 does begger belief, I agree again, I was going to ask them to look at it again but have sent an email saying just to drop the complaint. Dont know if they can now configure their computer to not offer me card, until I am working, will need to wait and see. All I wanted was to put all of my banking under one roof, I have a barclaycard with a £3500 limit, and I was going to close it and transfer it, they could have cut it and sent it back, seems they dont want the business. I am less of a risk than an employed person, as I cannot get better, so will never lose the DLA, whereas someone could lose their job tomorrow and end up on £59 jobseekers, after getting accepted for a card today.Sorry I am off on a rant, in their reply to my complaint they did not even mention the fact that I was offered the card and then it was taken away, they just seemed annoyed I was accusing them of discrimination, which I have been told is the case, so I have applied for a Barclays Bank Acccout, will wait and see if I get accepted.James0

Oh dear!! Sometimes i think its just down to the branch you are with! I just have a select account, dont want one with a monthly fee, though they keep offering, everytime i go in the bank, they go on abt a "review", i told one cashier, before she even opened her mouth, knew what she was going to say! that i didn't want a review, the look she gave me!lol0

It is funny, and annoying at the same time. You cannot go to the Post Office to buy a stamp without them trying to sell you something else.I occasionally manage to get a laugh out of call centre staff, by stating my date of birth, overdraft limit, and who I have direct debits too, in an effort to save time and the phone bill.CheersJames0
