To MSE forum Users, I apologise if this thread runs elsewhere, but the more people that know about the Scam this company runs the better!!
Teletext Rep, please respond to me, your call centre doesnt care, and neither it seems do your complaints department who dont respond to emails and arent reachable by phone.
Teletext Holidays charged me £80 extra to upgrade my room on a trip to Turkey to a superior suite. Sounds good...... problem is, they don't exist at my hotel!!
The hotel confirm that they only have one standard of room, yet teletext charged me for an upgrade. after speaking several times to their contact centre, i have got no where in getting my money back. they keep blaiming their suppliers. I'm sorry but that's nonsense to me. Teletext are the ones who offered me thee upgrade and happily took my money, they're the ones who should pay it back.
if anyone on here has had luck in getting this problem resolved, then please let me know how they did it. if i don't get anything, I'm considering going to trading standards as they have sold something that didn't exist fraudulently.

why should he "just" claim it back without making lots of noise.
as has been pointed out there are a few others in the same situation.
the Teletext rep pops up now and again but it would be good if that same rep could expain why they keep doing it0 -
I agree, make noise on here and also with Visa and MasterCard, they need to know what Teletext are up to.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Thank you rhinosdave. It is a timely reminder on the underhand methods used by teletext holidays.0

Thanks for your help everyone, it's not particulary the money involved, (which is a kick in the teeth), it's more the sly underhand dirty tactic. My guess there is 1000s of people that have been caught out without even knowing. I'm surprised it hasn't been on watchdog and highlighted more!0

My guess is that it a normal stock question the telesales people have, when taking a booking over the phone. They must get commission on an upsell. The easiest one would be, '' We have an offer only available today on an upgrade your room for just £80, shall I add that on for you?''
It will be similar to banks selling PPI, sofa companies selling leather care kits and of course, McDonalds staff asking you if you want your meal Large, or an Apple pie for 99p !0 -
