Call charges to 030 numbers

Ever thought of trying?
They have no conventional contacts, relying on FAQ's which strangely (or not) do not include any reference to the cost of calling 03 numbers.
Forum Member Heinz has pointed out that to get a response from them.
"Follow their online reporting procedure - but only use the Report A fault section.
They always reply to me when I do that."0 -

"Follow their online reporting procedure - but only use the Report A fault section.
They always reply to me when I do that."Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
What a third party virtual operator charges for calls is a different issue. OFCOM's reliance on making 01, 02 and 03 calls is fine as far as it goes, but then there's the valid exceptions for 01 numbers (to IoM and CI codes). Since these rules only apply to non-virtual operators (BT, Virgin, Kingston) if you choose to use an indirect access supplier then as long as they publish accurate rates, then they are able to charge as they want, caveat emptor.
Talk talk, Post Office, Sky et al are all virtual. You pay what their price list stipulates.
If the consumer is foolish enough to route their call by a more expensive supplier, there's little point complaining. It is no different from deciding what train to get on. Different operators will have alternative prices to the same destination. Using the wrong one and paying more will not result in anything other than a refusal to do anything - that's what competition is about.0 -
All other mainstream and cheap call UK suppliers dont seem to have a problem to charging the same as 01/02 numbers or including them in inclusive minutes as required .One charging as little as half a pence a minute and no connection charge.
If there is a provider charging 0.5p/min with no connection charge for calls to 03 numbers, please will you tell us who it is? Perhaps it can then be listed in MSE Callchecker, because it isn't there at the moment.
If, as I suspect, the reason for the higher price to 03 numbers is a higher price being charged by the wholesale provider, the only way 18185, 1899 and call18866 can comply is to charge more for calls to 01 and 02 numbers. That is not an outcome I want, so there is no point in complaining.0 -
I started this thread because the MSE UK Callchecker was showing wrong prices for 03 calls, since its claimed daily update had failed to detect the price increases made by some indirect access providers about a week ago. I cannot see any link on the Callchecker page to report errors. I was hoping the forum would be monitored and I could report a problem that way, but apparently not.
How do I report an error in the MSE Callchecker?0 -

Thanks for the suggestion. allfrey posted this on there with the thread title "03 calls call checker and 18185" on 28 July.18185 is charging 3p a minute for calls to 03 numbers. The call cehcker needs to take account of this.0
