  • I never said anything about 100K, you're using a straw man argument.

The poster I was responding to (and at least one other) was claiming that if a house sold for less than one in the same street which was similar in every way then the value of that house wouldn't be effected when it clearly would.

    STRAWMAN ALERT :rotfl: STRAWMAN ALERT

I think you'll find my post above makes what you've just typed look incredibly foolish. Accusing others of Strawman arguments yet doing the the exact thing within the very same post..... INCREDIBLE:T

£100k was an example and shouldn't have been considered a fully worked example.

Of course it would be affected in some way - it's a non point.
  • I have a horrible feeling you might be Crashy's doppelganger.

    If this is a question then you’re a grapefruit…..

So it’s gone from My house can only be sold for what the house next door sold for….

To my house is affected by the sold prices of other houses in my street……

I would suggest there is a considerable difference to these posts…..

If you disagree then you’re clearly incredibly naïve or dim witted. I hope this isn’t the case and you are instead just being incredibly biased.

So to answer for the 3rd TIME - Do you think the value of your house is affected by sale prices for similar houses in the area?

(simplistically)The value of a house is what someone is willing to pay for it..... Of course a shockingly low price on the same street would cause concerns for potential buyers. But would in no way dictate the price of all similar houses on that street…..

No, nothing to do with Crashy.

Did you even read my post, where I pointed out you were being pedantic about the posters use of terminology?

To be honest from your posts you sound pretty worried.

which would you choose if you were under 30?

    Buying.

I'm well over 100K ahead through buying in the mid 00's than I would have been through renting since.

Does that mean we will see a 20% hike in rents?

Certain posters are clearly disagreeing with this, so yes however obvious it's a point that is worth making.

I can see no difference between these two options. Thanks for pointing out how pedantic I was being. :rotfl:

Enjoy living in your mum's box room, whilst I am living worrying terribly about how I will live rent and mortgage free. :money:

Can you not afford a property?
  • No, nothing to do with Crashy.

So if house prices fall there's a good chance mine will too? Thanks for that.
