Nothing wrong with my thermostat Adrian. Replaced it once already. Cheers anyway.

If there's nothing wrong with the 'stat, then the coolant doesn't circulate outside of the engine block and heater circuit until it reaches the opening temp. Blocking the rad off will do nothing.

Was hoping that at least v10's became mandatory to give me the excuse to upgrade

    Not much V10 stuff about

E60 BMW M5/M6 - just avoid as you really will have no wallet left
    Audi RS6 with lambo V10
    Lambo V10

If you are buying one of those, your insurer chums are paying you too much and I'll start a MSE campaign to reduce people's insurance premiums by not paying consultants £500 a day :D

    V8's should be mandatory :D
In my utopian dream, cars with fewer than 5 cylinders (to avoid outlawing volvo T5s) and all hatchbacks would be banned, with tax breaks for large saloon cars. :D

Well if you insist on me going for a V12 instead......

Isnt there an v10 R8 these days?

The EY chap I've working with me on this projects billing at £2,428 + VAT a day and will be on the project for the next 18 months.... I look positively cheap in comparison

The simple solution is to ring them up and say you are considering adding this modification, will there be any insurance implications?

If you say you are installing it as an economy measure and it not be worth going ahead if there is an insurance cost, then you have a sensible conversation on record which will not raise any alarm bells with them.

I know this thread is about Admiral, but in general, always check with your insurer before doing anything that could affect your cover.

I was unwittingly uninsured when I bought my current used car. I didn't know that it was originally an import. The Co-operative do not insure imports and I drove it home (over 200 miles) with invalid cover (i.e., none). They are also extremely fussy about mods.

If in doubt, always give your insurer a ring.

Love the animals: God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. Do not trouble their joy, don't harrass them, don't deprive them of their happiness.

No you weren't uninsured, you were simply the victim of an ignorant or dishonest insurance vendor.

    The Financial Ombudsman says :-

For example, ICOB Rule 7.3.6 provides that:
    an insurer must not unreasonably reject a claim made by a customer except where there is evidence of fraud, e.g. refuse to meet a claim made by a retail customer on the grounds of non-disclosure of a fact material to the risk that the retail customer could not reasonably be expected to have disclosed;

(edited for clarity - read the link for more detail)

In other words, if you couldn't reasonably be expected to have known of a modification, they cannot refuse to honour the policy on that basis.

Contacted Admiral about something else which was quoting 2 cameras one front mounted on dash and one on rear window and they wanted 17.50 quid to add them to the mod description does this right to you ?

Will contact them again about mpguino but I have little hope to be honest.

Its crazy whats next having to tell your insurer you want to put some non standard dustcaps on or fit brighter headlight bulbs to see better in the dark where does it end.

    Amen :A

Gotta love the sound of a 5 pot.

I've managed to avoid anything less than 6 pots for my last 5 cars, 30mpg, what's that? :D

Sounds like the admin fee for a mid term adjustment.

When you get your renewal, tell them you will be putting it in the day it renews and you avoid the fee... of cause it does give you 1 day a year you can actually make a mod
