Some are, yes. Many are just complete rubbish, even dangerous.
I think understanding their tips on stuff such as fuel injection cutoff, grill-blocking in the winter, understanding how cruise control works are absolutely vital to economical driving.

Grill-blocking? Based entirely on mix of 60yr+ old information and a misunderstanding of how modern cooling systems work.
Cruise? Irrelevant-to-dangerous in UK traffic conditions.0 -
Injection cutoff? Yes, a piece of basic knowledge that helps.
