I'm back! Had the most fantastic holiday, met up with some old friends, met new ones, experienced new and different cultures, ate, drank and generally had a great time.

Hope you're all ok, I will try to slot in again and read your news as I go, there's too much to catch up on!

Got off the plane at lunchtime on Saturday and went more or less straight away to the rugby sevens at the Commonwealth Games, same again yesterday and it was fantastic. Got some hockey tickets for next Saturday, so glad I was able to experience the whole occasion.

Got some shopping to do today, my cousin and her husband are staying for a few days (arrived about an hour after I got home) so have a lot of catching up to do. DD has done a sterling job keeping up to date with the housework, etc, especially as a new central heating system was installed while I was away! I think I need to get on with the decorating as it looks worse than ever!

Anyway, it has been raining most of the weekend but I think it will be a nice day when the mist clears today, may go for a swim later.

Love and hugs to all, take care. XX

If anyone is after a slow cooker

Allergy a little better, but spent the day in the 'van reading a David Baldacci book from cover to cover:o Didn't manage to get to visit the pub Judi, even though intended too, it was one of those days when. "Leave me alone" was the best option, even knitting/crocheting was not touched. Not had too bad a nights sleep in the scheme of things, but on my scale carp. Did go and join it with the rally last night for another quiz, and "Play your cards right". Big prizes, mini chocolate bars, could not be bothered to drink, just stick to coffee. I must be getting old!! Today we move on to Chipping Norton.

Molly healing vibes, as someone asked, it was not the op, that is in August, but more the recent "mess", but she needs to get strong enough to face the op.

Hilly, LW (Mr & Mrs) MM and all others not in full health, mental or physical, ((hugs)), spoons, positive vibes, grab a handful as you pass.

    Take care everyone. DG

    Hi everyone,

I've been so busy the last few days with sis-I-law visiting I've not been posting. Not to mention we haven't done anything old style.

DS and GF have left their cat here for the week while they are on hols. She is very sweet but we have to keep her in so all the windows and doors are shut, it's so hot!

Sis-in-law leaves this morning so I shall clean the downstairs and bring out my sewing machine to get on with the quilt I'm making.

I hope you have a good day.
  • Good morning everyone, much cooler here and with a lovely stiff breeze so much more comfortable, I even got chilly in the early hours this morning and had to get a light fleece out of the blanket chest !!!

We had such a lovely weekend with my DD and family, they went home yesterday afternoon with masses of garden/allotment produce to share with thier friends and use themselves so I've got a couple of days off from freezer preps until the veg catches up again. Going to top and bottom the house today and use up odds and ends from the fridge for meals so a nice easy day after a fun but hectic weekend!!!

Have a good day everyone and hope it's a bit cooler where you are today, Lyn xxx.

    Morning all,

a lot cooler here overnight. It was bliss!

Well boredom got to hubby yesterday, he decided to dejunk one of his sheds. Theres a pile of rubbish to be taken to the refuse centre this morning. Piles of armoured cable to be tatted in. He recons he doesn't want to be an electrician any more.... and theres a pile of electrical stuff he's arranged to sell his mate. Being self employed he always keeps a good stock in but when he strips out commercial buildings he tends to save stuff too. Theres an bike engine ready to be collected, my son wants it. His shed isn't empty by any stretch of the imagination but its a start. Of course, he has another shed that needs dejunking too but I don't think that one is on the cards. I know it doesn't make much sense but his sheds have always worried me. If anything happened to him I'd be stuck with this pile of stuff that I wouldn't know what to do with and without him I'd probably go into rented accommodation anyway. On top of that he is a serial hoarder. His motto is 'you don't throw away what you've paid good money for'.

Today is going to be a mixed bag of stuff. Hubby has an appointment at the renal clinic this afternoon. He's having another ultrasound on his kidneys. This evening at 7 he has an appointment with the surgeon who operated on his knee. Just a routine check up to check all is well. He's got to have a fat free diet until he goes (which reminds me, ive just taken him in a coffee but ive put milk in it so I'd best remove it before he drinks it). Poached eggs and tomatoes on toast for him for breakfast I think.

Did I tell you, he's managed to offend his sister..... never did like her anyway.:D

Hester, lovely to hear your family barbecue didn't turn into a drunken brawl. Such a blessing eh?

Anyone want a coffee with two sugars? I'd drink it myself but I'd probably put on half a stone.

News from the baby house. The little girl with HIV is moving on. She has got her own 'forever' family and is moving to the Netherlands. Theres news of a new baby coming to the baby house. I must ask for more news but my daughter is seriously stressed at the moment.

    Onwards and forwards,

    have a great day all.

A lovely cool day here today, they say it is going to rain later so I think the WM can have a day off today.

yesterday myself & DH had a nice relaxing day spent catching up with a few TV programmes, eating hm coffee and walnut cake and sharing a bottle of HM beetroot wine...lovely!

Today nothing much is happening, all the housework was done before DH & DS had got up, just going to go in the bath then I'll prepare the tea, think we may have HM pizza and garlic bread this eve, now I'm just off for a long soak in the bath then a day with the sewing machine is in order I think.

Hope you all have a lovely day x

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's a late start for me today as I managed to go and have some more sleep after getting up at 5am. I saw hubby off to work and then went back to have a lie down. Next thing I know it's 9.15am! I feel so much better now though, it's a lot cooler and fresher today which helps a lot.

I've decluttered the girls off to Barnstaple today to go to the cinema, do some shopping and have lunch out. I'm so so happy that they are all old enough to be independent now although the Bank of Mum and Dad are funding their expedition :rotfl:.

I'm just going to be pottering around this morning, I have 2 loads of washing as always to do and I will tidy up the living room. Hubby wants to take some time off at the end of August to decorate the dining room so I will be slowly clearing away all the gibble and guff that lurks in here .

Hope everyone is ok and enjoying their summer. Gentle hugs for all who would like one too. Take care xx

    Hi all :)
Only just caught up with yesterday's posts as I didn't post here myself.

Hugs to all those ill or feeling down x

Tru : your comment about having dalek composters made me smile

Jacksmummy : why do you have so many rabbits?!

Well I did do some work in the attic on Saturday. I was up there over 3 hours and only managed to sweep the exposed bit of floor and bring down 3 bags of books and 1 bag of clothes for charity, and 1 bag of rubbish.
I was going through boxes and found an old letter I wrote to my ex - 16 pages long! It was such a timid weak outpouring of how much I loved him and sorry if I ever made him cross, please don't be angry etc etc. I was just thinking how I could shake that girl I used to be, when it mentioned how upset I was that he had proposed on my birthday to me (when I was 5 months pregnant) and then told me a week later that he'd changed his mind. Reading that sent me into floods of tears. I had remembered getting a ring and then giving it back but I'd thought it was after a row, I'd forgotten the circumstances. I'm so glad I bust up with him and met my now DH, I now have 3 lovely grown up babies and a nice home for us all :D I think I will have a sneaky bonfire of all ex stuff later while DH is out.....

Yesterday we went to 2 carboot sales and did the food shop but tbh we are sleeping so badly atm that we are like zombies. I did manage to Hoover and damp cloth the boys bedroom, but really need to blitz the whole house. I had been planning to have a baking day today so hopefully I will fit that in too. Bacon carbonara for dinner tonight.

    Have a fab day all!

Speaking from experience, this is one of the most cathartic things you can do. It sounds to me like you had a lucky escape!!

We have 9 jars of cherry plum jam. There are cherry plums growing along the path to the field near us (where we walk dogs) and we picked a load of them yesterday, took them home and jammed them. Yum!:D

Button has gone home now; my next guest, Jasper, is due to arrive on Wednesday. The plan is to colour my hair tonight while we're dogless, as the stuff stinks out the entire bungalow.

Tru I did laugh at the thought of Ruby Chick hopping up onto your lap.:D

Strength vibes for Molly and a stern word with the universe to stop throwing poo stuff at her.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

    Afternoon all,

Not so warm here today, there has been some rain but think I need to get the hose out later, need to feed the tomatoes and baskets as they all seem a bit slow this year.

We have had a mobile groomer this morning to clip Mossy, drives in, takes dog on board and washes, clips etc without you doing anything except plug her in, and of course pay €70 at the end! He is very happy with himself and is now having a snooze to recover from all that exercise!

Dinner today will be gammon steak with cabbage and some other veg, with steamed spuds of course! Pudding will be choc muffins with ice cream, DD4 made the muffins yesterday.

Hugs to all who are suffering in any way. Have agood day all
