Eurochange reviews?

Options
Hello, we're going on holiday to Majorca in 9 days and I'm looking to change £500 into Euros before we go. Want to exchange for cash rather than cheques or a card and someone has suggested Eurochange to me. I've been on their site and it says they're FCA regulated but wondered if anyone has had any dealings with them and what their experiences have been like. There's an option to order and collect the money but there aren't any branches located near me so will have to rely on the postal option. Have had a look on the net and on here but can't seem to find much about them. Never used an online company before for this so any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance :)

A safer and slightly better value method would be to put £50 on this Kalixa Pay Mastercard and then when it arrives you can put the remaining £450 on.

With the Kalixa Pay card, you'll have the equivalent of 630€ on the card. More than the 620€ than you would get with Eurochange.
You can take the money out in two chunks. Perhaps one of 300€ and another of 320€. For a total of 620€(Of the 9€ to 10€ left over, 2.85€ would be taken for each ATM withdrawal, so 5.70€ in total). You'll have 3€ to 4€ left on the card.

This card can be used anywhere in the world to access the Mastercard Wholesale exchange rate. Currently 1.25855€ Euros to the Pound.

In addition, any purchases on the card will be at the wholesale exchange rate. So better than cash.

So the card is safer and better value than cash.

If you buy Euros in cash and don't use them, you'll either need to keep them for the next European holiday and sell them at a loss.

If on the Kalixa Pay card, the money is still in Pounds and there is no charge to spend in the UK. It's just Pound for Pound.
  • Thank you NiftyDigits :) I've never heard of this card before and I've also found out I can get £7.00 cashback if I apply for the card through Quidco so that would cover any ATM fees.

I'm going out now but will definitely look into this when I return. Thanks again for your advice and pointing me in a new direction :T

Not sure if you will get the Quidco payment if you use the Promo Code as shown, to get the normal card price of £6.95 off.
But the ATM fees are covered anyway, as I have illustrated.
Seems that you can only load £300 per day by debit card. More by Bank Transfer, but Bank Transfers may take longer to credit to the account.
The loading shouldn't be a problem if you organise yourself.
  • Good point, didn't think of that but worth a try I guess ;)
Had my bank on the phone today to say someone has tried to fraudulently use my account so my debit card has been cancelled so haven't got around to doing anything yet. Typical, last thing we need so close to going away :/

We always take cash and change when in Majorca
Normally a few places that do exchange and we just change it as and when we need it

Going on Weds and it looks like I can get 1.23

Where abouts are you going ?
    Have a nice day :)
  • We've always used the post office as we prefer to take cash with us. Took some sterling with us last year to Alcudia and changed it over there but found if the exchange rate was good then the charges were ridiculous.
This year we're going to Palma Nova and never been there before so have no idea until we get there.
Where about are you going Lincoln Imp?

Sillot ,next door to Sa Coma
Off in the morning 0600 from Luton for 9 days

Palma Nova is next door to Magaluf ,Went a few years ago but was late in the season so was ok
    Have a nice day :)
  • We have been to Magaluf before but with 3 young children and an all inclusive hotel we didn't venture very far from the complex so will be good to have a good look around Palmanova now the kids are much older. Only other part we've been to is Alcudia so can't comment on Sillot but I'm sure you'll have a great time. Enjoy your trip :)

This is true, although 2 years ago I entered a competition with the Post Office after exchanging our money with them and won. Returned home to find out I'd won our holiday money back so I guess I can't complain ;)

Thanks for advice guys, I appreciate it.

Thomas Cook have an online Reserve and Collect service which allows you to fix at quite a good rate online and then collect from your local branch.

You pay when you collect in the branch (I paid in cash) but you have to collect the day you place your reservation (or the next day if you do it out of office hours) Just make sure the branch will be open when you plan to collect it.

At the time of writing their rate is 1.2361 and this will probably stay in place until about 9.30 am tomorrow morning.

    Hope this helps.
