I'm 24 and still regularly shop in the kids section of H&M and Next for myself, and have child size ugg boots.
There's definitely opportunity to shop in children's sections, however with some compromise to style
In answer to the question though, I've paid for my NUS card since I was 16, and I am still entitled to it until next year. I make the cost back in the first few transactions, and some places only offer NUS discounts CO-OP for one. Just bite the bullet!0 -
There is no VAT on books (any books, not just schoolbooks). But as she is still classed as a child, shouldn't you be buying her school books for her anyway (with some of the child benefit you will be getting for her)?
I agree that the NUS extra card is worth getting, but I didn't realise you could get it before sixth-form age. (A levels or equivalent). As your daughter is 16 on 1 September, does this mean she will still be completing her GCSEs next year? - as she would be in year 11, one of the oldest in that year group. Of course, if you are in Scotland I know it is a bit different.0 -
Its due to a change in terminology, up until the last 10 years or so anyone studying under college level was called a "pupil" not a student.
So now school kids are called students I have seen people on forums like this mention how since their kids are students why cant they get student discounts.
Does annoy me a little as someone on benefits that I have to pay full whack for something and a kid gets discounts, I had to buy revision books at local bookstores full price so its a bit unfair to just expect a child to get freebies.
I also will mention even though I only left school in 2001 aged 15 no one I knew got id cards, my cousins who lived in different parts of England, friends relatives who lived in England and Scotland etc.0 -
It's supposed to be for uni students. But if she has a job why shouldn't she pay for an NUS card if children that age are allowed one?
We all have to. It's how it keeps going.New to this money saving lark. Any tips greatly received.
