See now this is the type of answer that stops folk from asking questions they need help for
Id rather have none than sarcasm
Im trying to say that a lot of these policies give you the impression you are covered
but when folk get abroad, they find out the are toally useless
I think you've taken offence unnecessarily.
Of course you need to read the policy.
Policies don't 'give impressions'.
They are factual documents that tell you what you are covered for and to what financial limit and what you aren't covered for.
If you don't have a policy document similar to the Halifax one in the link by PeacefulWaters, you need to get your bank to provide one.
If there is anything in there that you're not clear on, contact the number provided.0 -
Phone and ask if you have specific queries or need clarification. Mum has some health conditions and wanted to check if they were covered or could be added on to the bank insurance, and found them helpful when she wanted to double check the written info on the cover. It does depend on your query though - your initial question was too broad to answer meaningfully, hence the suggestions to read the leaflets. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
How do I go about checking if my holiday insurance will be enough to cover me and my family
I get it via my Account with my bank and want to make sure it covers us all properly
You hear so many stories of insurance not being good enough abroad
Travel insurance more than anything is about medical issues whilst you're abroad and on this point most cover is the same. Cancellation is probably the next biggest category and these again tend to be similar you just need to check the limits are sufficient for you.
Where people complain about travel insurance most is in connection with the cover it provides for their items being stolen etc. This really is a tertiary cover on travel insurance. If you need proper cover than this would be done with the Personal Possessions/ All Risks section of your Home policy.
Most "free" travel insurance that comes with current accounts tends to be fairly reasonable in quality. Its the old travel insurance that you used to get with credit cards that was terrible quality but thankfully the vast majority of those are gone now.
Ultimately, read your policy book and compare to your needs. You could look at the Defaqto star rating but you always need to take those with a pinch of salt0
