About 90% of most people's gas consumption is during the Autumn / Winter months.
Out of interest does anyone know what period ( dates) the energy companies consider the times of highest use?

You can request a change of monthly direct debit amount by logging in online. Doesn't last long. The system seems to like to "review" the DD amount every time it generates a bill.

I wouldn't have thought there are fixed dates with our weather being so variable.

    Classic text book answer.

I have my heating on for more than ten minutes!

Called, sorted, DD reduced to £130. No problemo.

Are you deliberately abrasive or is that just how you are? You're not going to get much help if you're just going to be rude to anyone that offers any sort of advice. What a knob.

Then how can a statement about 90% usage in Autum/ Winter period be true?

I suppose that one could use from Autumnal to Vernal Equinoxes.

My original post stated "Autumn/Winter months", not period.

Every year we do get a Winter, but its severity, when it starts and when it ends, weather wise, is the bit that changes. You should know our weather in the UK doesn't follow a calendar any more!

/Looks outside...Oh, THIS is Summer? It's still dark at 7:30am, torrential rain and only 15C.

    ^^^ See what I mean?

The bottom line is that throughout Spring & Summer most people will either use Gas for only cooking, or hot water, or both and in the Colder months (whenever they happen to be) will use Gas for heating, which is the biggest consumer for Gas & Electric households.

@Andy_WSM Period or months, no matter! :) I did some calcs using the readings I keep. adjusted to consecutive 91 day periods. Over three years the two highest quarters' consumptions were 88, 88, 82% if the whole year.
