Help please with insuring family van!

Options
Hi,
We have bought a Renault Master van with 8 seats inside and plenty of space for bikes etc and camping stuff.
I am trying to find reasonable insurance for it. We are a family of 4 not a commercial company!
Anyone got any suggestions please?
I have spent ages on the internet only to be advised that the usual companies wont quote ' for this type of vehicle'.
I have been on van insurance sites but they assume that I am a trader etc.
Best wishes

There are a few companies who will insure this under it's correct description which is a mini bus.

Sounds more like a crew van than a minibus

I once bought an ex-ambulance transporter (Renault Master) and then had great trouble getting insurance. We ended up with NFU, who were great and we had no trouble at all with them. Worth a try.....

If you're trying to insure something unusual, the comparison sites tend to be pretty unhelpful. They're set up for mass business, not for niche stuff.

Dacouch's link should give you somewhere to start. Otherwise, you could always try a broker - their business is often about dealing with unusual things.

Unusual vehicles / vehicle use can be really difficult. Adrian Flux would be worth a try. We had a selfbuild motor home, which was a converted minibus. Adrian Flux were about the only people we could get insurance with.

The policy was cheap, met our needs, but had a lot of restrictions. No work use, which included travel to work, for instance.
