Attention Stooges-PO Credit Card - don't bother if transferring from a Barclaycard!

What a good deal I thought.....0% for 18 months and a superb balance transfer fee of just 0.7%.
Got the card no problem. Called the post office today to transfer the balance from my Barclaycard - they tell me that they cannot do balance transfers from Barclaycards!! - something about Barclaycard not accepting payments from Post Office cards.

This needs updating on the MSE Credit cards webpage as it's a major clause that should be highlighted, and for me, a waste of time and another credit check on my credit file for no reason.

I'm off to cancel my card now and look for another to do a balance trransfer to.

    Can you not ask them to transfer money to your bank account from your credit card at the same transfer rate and same 0% period? Then you pay off your Barclaycard with your current account.
    I have enough money to last me the rest of my life,as long as I die next Tuesday.

    The PO card certainly used to* offer super balance transfers (on the same terms as balance transfers). However, rather than stick around and wait for some options/offers of help, the OP said they were off to cancel it so they'll probably never know now. Hopefully they'll get the other card they seek.

    * EDIT: They still do by the looks of it. From the PO card T&Cs...

    1. DEFINITIONS

    “Balance Transfer” – a payment we make on your request (i) to another organisation which pays off or reduces the amount that you owe to that other organisation or (ii) into a UK personal current account held in your name with a bank or building society, (and in both cases excluding any Bank of Ireland Group company);

    Strange how they use a Barclaycard transfer in their marketing.

    I transferred a balance from Barclaycard to PO Mastercard back in 2011..

    These quirks do happen. I remember PO Mastercard telling me once that they couldn't take a balance from MBNA. Instead, they told me that they would post a cheque made payable to MBNA.

    The word is stooze, a stooge is something altogether different! And given that there is an entire sub-board dedicated to it I don't know why you didn't post there.

    Perhaps because being a relatively new poster, the OP hadn't realised that?

    Actually I think it is better off here anyway because it's useful information to anyone with a Barclaycard balance to transfer, not just stoozers.

    I did notice, and that's why I felt a degree of criticism wouldn't go amiss - anyway, judging by the average of less than 1 post per year we probably won't see the OP back again for a while :cool:.

    Do credit card companies not transfer balances by sending a credit to recipient issuer's collection account (i.e. sort code, account number with a payment reference)?
