rear-facing car seats have been found to be 1 of the causes in forgotten baby syndrome - leaving baby in the car by accident as it is harder to see baby is strapped in the car seat.
so its risky if you rear-face, and risky if you dont :eek:Proud mum :T

Forgotten baby syndrome? Please tell me that isn't an official 'syndrome'? I always leave my bag on the back seat as a matter of habit but my daughter is that noisy it would be very difficult to forget she were there! I'd always rear face with the amount of bad drivers on the road.:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

If they share a room (but not a bed) with a parent, they have a reduced risk of cot death.
I don't think its fully understood exactly why, but the statistics are clear.0 -

My baby had to...the combined snoring of his Dad and I kept waking him up, so in order to help all concerned he slept next door in his own room.SPC7 ~ Member#390 ~ £432.45 declared :j

I was told that it's because a parents breathing helps regulates a babies. The proof is in the statistics, but I have to be honest I havnt done much research on it.0 -

There are theories, but in the scheme of things, does 'how' really matter? There are a lot of things where we don't fully understand the 'how' but we know from observation and statistical evidence that it works, so we do it.
Like paracetamol, nobody fully understands how that works, or placebos, complete mystery but very effective!0 -

In a way yes it does.
I bet alot of people don't do things that we're told to by the medical profession simply because a) the medical profession keeps changing their minds or can't agree on what's best and b) if people understood why they were being told a course of action is recommended then there's more chance of it being followed and becoming accepted practice.
But there again I might just be an awkward so and so who wants to know the science behind the advice rather than just accepting it as gospel2014 Target;
