    What did the agreement you signed when you paid the £500 deposit actually say? If it included GuardX, then you would have to prove that this was subject to later verbal confirmation, which is clearly not possible-so it ends up as just your word against his.
    In future get everything down in writing, especially when dealing with car salesmen.
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
