Guardx - Applied before sale agreed
I have recently bought a used VW Golf. The car was brought up from another branch of the dealer for me to view. I had initially agreed to purchase RPP and the Guardx, to be confirmed when I had viewed the car and agreed to purchase it. When I went to view the car, and agreed to buy it, I told the salesman that I didn't want the RPP (can get it for a third of the price VW charge) and that I didn't want the Guardx. I was told by the salesman that it was too late, he'd already had the Guardx applied anticipating that I would want the car. I therefore paid £500 for a car 'protection' that I don't want, and that is panned in every review I've read about it.
Do I have any legal standing to get my £500 back, please?

Couldnt you have walked away at the point of finding out?0

No, I wanted the car, just didn't want the Guardx. I know it sounds pathetic but i just went along with it, it's only when i'd driven off that I got cross about flushing £500 down the drain.0

Looks like you agreed to it then.0

Next time start walking away. It costs them peanuts. They wouldn't want to lose a sale over just that.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Well it's not necessarily flushed down the drain as you got something for your money, but you could have had similar paint protection for a lot less money. You live and learn.0 -
they wouldnt really put guardex on the car in anticiaption of you wanting it. Even though it costs nowhere near the price they sell it for - there is still overhead in it (labour in paticular). My hunch is the car already had guardx on it, before you even showed up so if you played your cards right you could get it for free.0

You have been mugged off. Should have walked away.0

The salesman is full of crap, just trying to claw back any "discount" he agreed to.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

What's done t'is done and cannot be undone...
In other words, you accepted the cost when you signed the agreement to buy a car with GardX... It was included in the final price that you negotiated (or not, apparently).
If you didn't like the deal you should have walked away. Instead, you signed on the dotted line... suck it up and enjoy your new car.:hello:0
