BT incompetence, lies, waffle, etc etc.

There are three golden rules companies have when taking on new customers -
Credit check, credit check, credit check.
And theres a world of difference between the cost of BT Basic and fibre BB.0 -

You'd better cancel your existing obligations first. They've already sent 2 engineers yo provide service. If they cannot, there's no problem but I doubt that will happen. You would need to provide a date for service in the future if this doesn't happen you can insist on cancellation.
The only Internet (Mobile) dongle service that is cost effective is 3UK. Check coverage first, as the alternatives are dear and may be unsustainable.0 -
Widelats,
1. A BT engineer can plug a handheld device straight into a socket in your home and determine: (i) if there are any breaks in the cable; and, (ii) the distance from the socket to any break, to an accuracy of less than 1 metre. They will know almost exactly where the break is, not just 'within 100 feet' of your property.
2. From personal experience, I know that BT broadband customer service are terrible to deal with. Over the last 20 days I have spent over 20 hours on the phone to BT broadband customer service regarding high broadband usage figures being incorrectly recorded on my account. BT told me that I would have to pay excess charges or upgrade my contract at a cost. However, BT have now admitted a fault (which I proved) whereby any BT WiFi FON (i.e. hot spot) usage through BT home hubs was being allocated to the BT broadband customers who owned the home hubs. I went to great lengths to prove this to BT; finally they have admitted the fault:
[I'm prevented from pasting a link here, but look up "Broadband Usage Massive Surge" on the BT Community forum.]
See the post on page 10 of this thread from PaddyB (BT) admitting the fault at 13:37 on 24th July 2014.
3. On your computer (at home) can you see any "BTWiFi-with-FON" networks? If so, then you can take the cheapest broadband package from BT. As part of the BT package you have free, unlimited broadband access to any "BTWiFi-with-FON" network. Any BT Infinity subscribers nearby will automatically provide you with [relatively] high speed and unlimited broadband (>c.16Mbps download) via the "BTWiFi-with-FON" network which their home hubs broadcast. What's more, because of the fault which BT have now admitted, you will probably make your neighbours pay for any data you use on the BTWiFi-with-FON network...0
