I am tired!!!!
I booked this week off ages ago and it's a good job. Today was a big important adoption-related meeting, tomorrow I need to collect my prescription then I'm having a works drinks thing in honour of me leaving, Wednesday I'm having a day out with my Mum, Thursday I'm visiting schools, Friday I'm getting the boiler done and visiting a friend, Saturday we're having friends round. Sunday we need to do a mega-clean and get lots of very easy meals ready.
The week after will be about 10 times more exhausting than this.I just hope I'm fit and healthy enough to get through it without dying as then I'll be a Mum, and Mum's have to be on the ball all of the time.
It's all quite terrifying, but I'm quite excited about making plans and starting the next huge phase of my life.
So it turns out my last day at work was the Saturday just gone, which is weird to think about. I'm actually quite glad as I didn't want to have to do emotional goodbyes, and it was quite a nice day.
Financially, nothing to report. Lots of travel costs coming up. We also went out for a celebratory meal, although it was at Wetherspoons so hardly breaking the bank. :rotfl:
Hopefully I'll get a chance to write before I enter a whirlwind - if you don't hear from me for a while, don't worry.Mortgage (Start Sep 2014)- £70,295/£0 - 100%

If someone could just take away my anxiety, that would be great. I didn't get to sleep until 3am!!! Started with heavy rain and the loudest drip drip drip on the window ledge, then someone texted me just as I was getting off to sleep, then my throat started hurting, then the thoughts started, which led to stomach pain. Of course knowing I needed lots of sleep just made me more anxious.
I need to chill the heck out! :rotfl: Started feeling really snotty and ill yesterday so I've cancelled the trip out tomorrow, which should hopefully allow me to have a nice relaxing day. Really don't feel like going out tonight but most people can't make it so it should be a nice quiet few hours with my closest friends.
Sorted out the car insurance. Renewal quotes really are the work of the devil aren't they? The same company were offering £248 but our renewal was £398!!!! How is that legal? So my OH is now with Sheila's wheels, which is hilarious.Just need to get him to phone and cancel (or maybe I should put on a man's voice?) and then post back the certificate of motor insurance.
Next job for today is to get some photos developed. I'm hoping to find a nice introductory deal with some freebies. Annoyingly, we won't have all the photos we want for out new daughter for a few weeks, and I imagine by then I'll be too knackered to order prints. At least I have a few.
Then I need to get the ironing done. My prescription needs picking up too but the weather looks grim and I need to wait in for a parcel. I could do with a PA this week.
My main aim is to calm down a bit and allow myself to enjoy my last week of freedom! There's really no point worrying about the million unknown possibilities when they are a week away.

The cheeky insurance company decided to match the quote we had gone for and say they have sorted it out with the other company (who are owned by the same people). If I had phoned, I wouldn't have been so polite. I would have asked why they were happy to charge us £150 more. Of course OH sounded all grateful, even though it hasn't saved us any extra.
The sat nav has gone missing, which is ironic. To be fair, the customer services man at Tesco was lovely and has organised another one to come tomorrow. Just another thing to worry about!
In other slightly inconvenient news, the pharmacy didn't have the drugs I need so I'll have to make another trip tomorrow or Friday.
I also need a flu jab and an asthma check-up, but they will have to wait for a few weeks.
OH is too fat for the clothes we ordered. His work trousers are a 32R, so we ordered 2 pairs of 32R trousers. Only they're much tighter!! He's just going to keep them and hope they stretch a bit. I know I should just return everything, but it's too much faff. He also ordered jeans but they are skin tight and he can't stand them. They do fit me (but obviously look very manly!) so I'm just going to keep them and wear them in the house. Never again!!
Had a nice night last night with my colleagues. They bought me flowers and a voucher, so I'll probably end up buying something nice for DD.
So not a very satisfying day. At least I got some washing done. I hear it's throwing it down in the South.Mortgage (Start Sep 2014)- £70,295/£0 - 100%

I'm so angry. Today should be a happy day as we have received ratification for the adoption, but Plusnet have ruined it.
Today I received a message saying they would be appointing debt collectors in 14 days if I didn't pay off my remaining balance.
Seeing as I phoned last week over an amount they took for no apparent reason and nobody mentioned it, I was rather shocked.
On phoning them, I was told that I owed £105 for cancelling. I explained that a) I didn't even know I was in a contract as it wasn't mentioned on the phone call when I moved house, and b) as soon as I realised I was in a contract they e-mailed me and said,
"When you leave Plusnet
You'll receive a final bill with the charges you need to pay.
As you're moving your service before the end of your minimum term, you'll need to pay a charge for the remaining months. Based on your transfer date, we've calculated this to be £55.90. This may change if your transfer date changes."
My transfer date didn't change, so why am I paying an extra £50?
Their answer? The e-mail shouldn't have been sent. So because they sent an erroneous e-mail I have now been charged an extra £50.
I had no choice but to pay it as I can't risk my little girl having to be confronted by ruddy bailiffs a few days after coming home. I will be complaining though. I didn't even get an apology.
I'm just glad that I'm in a position to be able to pay this off. Imagine if you'd switched because you were on a low income?
I'm really upset now as I should be focussing on becoming a mother, not writing angry letters to greedy companies.
I really don't have time for this.:(:(

Don't let them ruin your day and special time, send the letter and send all the angryness with it and forget about it. You have bigger and way more exciting things to be thinking about!DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)

debtfreeoneday is right. Also ...don't pay it. They won't send bailiffs.0

Thanks guys - I did pay it as I didn't want it hanging over me and actually it ceased to be important quite soon afterwards as I had some nice news about our DD.
It's still annoying because of the injustice of it but not worth bothering about.
Today we had some more bad news - the boiler man came to service and it looks like the people we got to fit it (felt like I had to use them as they were friends of the family but I wasn't happy with the service at all - hence changing the company for servicing) have used the wrong size pipe so us spending an extra £500 for a better bigger boiler is pointless! They also didn't seal it properly. Oh well - I learned my lesson! It could have been much worse I guess. At least I have a thorough boiler man now.
Anyway, I had a lovely lovely afternoon with a lovely friend and her gorgeous daughter. I felt pretty good about myself because her daughter (only 1) normally cries at new people and she was laughing all afternoon and then snuggling up to me! They were astonished!
We got the plans today for introductions, which is very exciting. I can't wait. :-)
Seeing friends again tomorrow and we have cake and fizzy pop.
Sunday is mad cleaning day.
If I don't check in on Sunday, I'll write again when I'm a mummy!!! Thank you so much everyone on here who has been so supportive - it means a lot to me.Mortgage (Start Sep 2014)- £70,295/£0 - 100%
