Parking ticket on car - not mine

I found a parking ticket stuck to the side of my car after I'd driven home from work. Reg no. doesn't match, nor does the colour or make/model of the car on the paperwork, so there's no doubt that it's not for me.
What does everyone think I should do with it - post it to NCP and tell them it was put on my car by mistake and ask them to re-issue it?

The newbie thread says:
"Consider waiting for the postal 'Notice to Keeper' in MOST cases, unless it is NCP or Meteor or WING or a small PPC like 'JAS' or 'JD Parking Consultants' or 'UCS parking Ltd' or 'P4Parking aka Nighthawk' who faff about sending debt collector letters and don't even send a NTK."
Also it is not my vehicle, reg no. or even the correct colour on the ticket. I was displaying a monthly permit paid for by work and it never leaves my dashboard.
Either the parking attendant has put the ticket on my car in error or somebody else has put the ticket on my car. Either way it's highly unlikely I will hear anything else about this as it's quite clearly not my car. The reg no. is nothing like mine, it's not just a typo. What will your verse be?

I agree, it is nothing to do with you, bin it or send it back to them. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0

I suspect some other poor sap will be getting an NTK through the post sometime soon and won't have seen the windscreen ticket as it was moved onto your car, or indeed they moved it thinking it would solve the problem and you would pay it.
In this case I would sit back and wait. But I would keep the PCN just in case you do get anything!Newbie thread: go to the top of this page and find these words: Main site > MoneySavingExpert.com Forums > Household & Travel > Motoring > Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking. I will write to them explaining what has happened and quote all of the details but keep the PCN.

If the parking attendant has cocked up, or someone has stuck the ticket to my car thinking it's funny, the person whose car it was actually intended for will be asked to pay twice as much if they don't pay within so many days...
There's absolutely no conceivable way the ticket is for me so there's no danger in my writing to them. What will your verse be?

I agree totally with the the Slithy Tove, do not communicate with them. Oce they have your details, they could easily try and send you one as well, as they the have your details of file and for all you know someone could have swapped PCNs.etc.
It really is best to stay out of it.Newbie thread: go to the top of this page and find these words: Main site > MoneySavingExpert.com Forums > Household & Travel > Motoring > Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking. I wasn't going to tell them my car's details, just inform them that the PCN was stuck to the wrong car and invite them to re-issue the ticket, either putting it on the right car (assuming it parks there every day) or posting it to the registered keeper.
I've parked there for about 4 months and have never been given a ticket. I'd love them to prove to a small claims court on the balance of probabilities that I didn't display a ticket when I've parked there and displayed one for the last 100+ days. What will your verse be?

But they will issue a NTK (or should do) after the specified time period in the BPA code of practice anyway, so what difference will your letter make?
Anyway, 3 regulars poster who try to help others have given you slightly different versions of what to do after you asked for advice, although all agree not contact NCP. If you chose to go ahead then that is your choice.Newbie thread: go to the top of this page and find these words: Main site > MoneySavingExpert.com Forums > Household & Travel > Motoring > Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking.
