Why? Are you afraid you'd fail?

But i still believe speed kills, if you are in an accident you've got more chance coming out unhurt if you're going slower.

    Hmmm.

Personally i believe inappropriate speed for the conditions is the problem, not speeding itself per se.

I dont think too many accidents happen solely due to speed - moreoften carelessness

The cost and hassle of running such a scheme would be huge. I think a test a couple of years after passing, then one every 10 years would be more than enough.

Who is going to pay for all these extra tests?

Personally I find bad driving is usually wilful rather than due to lack of ability. Or it is down to lack of experience, which can only be improved by actually driving the car.

Driving test centres are struggling now with testing new drivers.
Add retesting at intervals into the mix and you probably need to book your 5 yearly retest as soon as you pass your test

Simple. Those being retested. I did say that in the post...

Perhaps. But it'll be far easier for the beefed-up real live traffic police in real live stripy volvos to detect that, once incompetence can be ruled out more easily.

Gawd knows why, unless the service is deliberately being mismanaged. Once tests and testing become revenue-neutral, although they should be already, there's no financial reason not to increase the number of slots available.

You can only increase the slots if you can get the extra examiners to utilise them and I think that is where the problem is

    Obviously.
and I think that is where the problem is

Clearly. Why that is, I have no idea - except for my earlier suggestion... I'm sure there are plenty of semi-retired Police Class 1 drivers and experienced "vanilla" driving instructors who would be welcome of an opportunity to train... If anything, the skillset required of an examiner is lower than that of an instructor.
