Capquest & Citifinancial

I discovered I had a default on my credit file. I did have some issue paying Citi but kept in touch the whole time and not once was I told I might be subject to a default. I never received any letters prior to the debt being sold to Capquest. I decided to try and get a copy as I had never seen one. Had a reply today stating that Citi could not supply a copy and that the original notice had been sent to me. I genuinly did not get this as I would have taken steps to pay the loan off in full within the 28 days.
Can I get the default removed, if so how. I haven't missed one payment to Capquest

Unfortunately lenders are not required to keep a copy of a notice of intention to default, but they do need to have on record that one was sent and what date.
The fact that the debt has been passed to capquest is indicative that you did default on the agreement and so the chance of getting the default removed is very slim.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Send them a subject access request.
If no proof of a default is sent, complain to get it removed.
The account history should show default notice sent.
Slim chance, but your only one.:beer:0 -
But there is no default recorded on my credit report by Citi ? I would have thought I would see this rather than Capquest ?0

When a debt is sold to a debt collector they agree between them who will report to the credit reference agencies.
Often the creditor removes their entry and default and the debt collector adds an identical record but using their name.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

I wouldn't bother. They can remove it, issue a default notice, then re-apply it.0 -

True, but a SAR will set the scene.
The date will also have to be reasonable, whether or not they sent the DN.:beer:0
