My internet connection has gone down but my landline still has a dial tone. However, when calling my mobile from the landline, the number displayed is not my usual landline number? And when I try to call this number from my mobile, the call does not connect?

My ISP said there is a fault in the exchange box that would need looking at.

Anyone experienced anything like this before, with regards to their phone number showing differently and thus, causing an issue with internet connection?

Who do I complain to about the internet connection as this is probably the third or fourth time our internet connection has gone down in the last 12 months, with my ISP confirming the fault is in the exchange box each time.

Your internet company depends on Openreach, who deal with the exchange ,but you can't speak directly to them , as they don't deal with the public. All you can do is complain to your line provider.

Sounds like a crossed line -your internet service is provided on your own phone number -a c*ck up @ the exchange has given you someone else's number!!

As already stated your line has probably been crossed with another line, the number you see when you call your mobile ( you could also dial 17070 from the landline and it will read out the line number) is connected to your house, and that line probably doesn't have broadband, or if it does isn't connecting with your router, if it's a simple cross, whoever normally has that number, may have your number, they may or may not have noticed this, a more complex cross may have many customers crossed with each other
This problem may be at the exchange or could be in the external lineplant, but if your ISP has reported it, then it should be getting looked at, is your ISP and line rental company the same ?, if it isn't you may have to report your landline service faulty

Call both landline numbers from your mobile.

Naughty thing to do: call premium numbers while you have the other number?
